Armada Refugees Check-In

By BiggsIRL, in Star Wars: Legion

So your great resistance fleet of Armada ran out of fuel and Vice Admiral "FFG" Holdo decided you should engage in some ground combat on planet Salt.

Check in here for your assignment.

Hello @Undeadguy.

Ready and waiting!

I still play armada but I'll be maining this for a while for sure!

Retired X-wing pilot/current Fleet commander getting my boots dirty on planetside assignment. Could this be punishment for losing so many ships to ISDs?? YOU try staying out of that front arc!

Reporting in, Admiral General Biggs!

It's an older game, sir, but it checks out.

I wouldn't call myself a refugee - more of a well-rounded commander.

Heck, I still play Imperial Assault! But Armada is my favorite. X-Wing I dumped to start a Flames of War collection (X-Wing is an awesome game but I just wasn't playing, prefer the larger tactical games I guess). Legion I just got my second core Tuesday and am still painting all those minis!! I've had one core plus AT-ST since Mar. 22nd but still not one game played! I'm at a point today where all have a base coat and may play a game tonight. This is the game I wanted for the IA miniatures, don't ask me how many IA Stormtroopers I have (let's just say too many).

Let's see:

X-Wing - still play with the kid and absolutely love playing HOTAC

Imperial Assault - my regular board game group will be starting our Legends of the Alliance Campaign soon

Armada - Still blogging, making videos, and playing corellian Campaigns/Tournaments

Legion - AAAGGHHHH New Hotness!! Must play and buy and the little plastic Star Wars things!!

So, uh yeah...I'm here too

Theres not enough minis on this rock to fill a space cruiser!

Let alone a gr75!

Alright, squads assemble! This is going to be a desperate fight to stay relevant as we lose out our place as the #2 Star Wars miniature game. Still, they say Rebellions are built on... what was it? Salt, I think. And there's plenty of salt here.

I like armada as a game but the tournament system is terrible and that has turned me away. Strange that I like runewars so much, I suspect the way you score points in runewars helps but I am worried that it will go the same way

11 ground pounders so far. You'll all have to do. Take off your fleet insignia before someone thinks you're someone important and you get someone killed.

Our first objective is to get off this rock. I think a Gozanti Cruiser or GR-75 Medium Transport is right about the best size for this. We've seen Gozantis drop AT-STs in Rebels, and GR-75s are practically synonymous with Hoth and evacuating Rebel troops at this point. So let's think of some ways to get back into space. Heck we might even consider some smaller ships capable of bringing a couple of squads to or from the fight, like Lambda Shuttles, VCX-100s, YT-1300s and the like.

Like, I'm thinking a single Flotilla (2 total ships, 1 base) would be reasonable to assume as holding a single 800 point army in Legion. After all, you can take up to two "Heavy" units, and a Gozanti can carry an AT-ST into the fight.

I vote we name ourselves the "Salt Brigade"

I'm no general. Just an Admiral who likes to get his boots dirty. :P

That seems entirely reasonable. Little small for a Brigade though. Salt Company? I guess we could always just run with the partisan grandiose. After all, we had a General in charge of a ground attack comprised of like 20 commandos (and 400 radicalized locals whose god told them to join the fight).

@geek19 and I are playing Legion but far more recreationally than Armada, so I'm not sure if we count.

Demo game was fun, but good Lord the randomness in Legion is an order of magnitude greater than Armada. Reminds me a lot of 40K that way, which shouldn't be too surprising, I suppose.

Ready to join Muppet Squad and Salt Company, SIR! I'm hoping this isn't just another mynock hunt.

In reality, it looks like fun. @GiledPallaeon and I did a demo on Sunday (where we TOTALLY forgot Suppression until like turn 3!) And it's fun and I look forward to playing it. But I'm bringing stuff because Rule of Cool more than anything. I dunno how good the snowspeeder is, but counter point: pew pew pew.

It's a side game, but it looks like a very fun side game that I don't have to stress about unlike every other time I play a second competitive game, and THAT'S what I want.

I’m looking at this as a REALLY EXPENSIVE (but incredibly fun) Armada recruitment device.

Soon they will look to the stars...

I'm just here to watch the valiant last stand before the planet gets glassed @

I'm seeing a lot of names here that I've not seen in a long time... a long time.

Soontir Fel.

I'm mostly here for the painting. I still a proper introduction to the game. I'm too **** busy to read the rulebook again. And retain any of it. LOL!
