Size Difference Between Wizards of The Cost Star Wars Mins and Legion

By JediPartisan, in Star Wars: Legion

Like the title says, does anyone know what the size difference between Wizards of the Coast’s Star Wars minis and Legion?

I actually still have mine (used for rpg).

Would be nice to add more troopers, an AT-ST, Speeder or even my AT-AT to a casual game, if they’re even close in scale.

The WotC miniatures are more in line with the Imperial Assault miniatures. I should know since I have created custom cards for many of them. They are smaller and you would notice the difference in scale on your table.

Darn. I did a google search and it came up with 34mm for the WoTC minis. I saw somewhere that Legion was 35mm, so I was hoping there wasn’t much difference, but just cause it says on the internet, doesn’t make it so.

Thanks for the heads up.

They are close in scale; it’s not immersion breaking or anything. For a casual game, I’d say you should be fine. The scale is noticeably different, but not huge.

more than a few people are making head swaps work for rebels from both ia and wotc minis. Several aliens rebased will work fine if you don't get too hung up on dimension stats being absolute for a race ( ie there will be hightowers and shorties in any given species)

There are of course other options as well. At the moment i'm planning a helmetless/battle damaged vader using a GW genestealer cult head..... and hera is going on one of my atrt's when i find her on sale.

Yeah for some reason storm troopers are on roids.

Do they look that bad? (everything except for the middle troopers in my shots are ia)

Edit: Given they were always looking up at people in the movies anyway i really wouldn't be surprised if plenty of IA han and liea's end up on legion tables as commanders.

The Legion minis are at least a head taller than my wotc. I think it's the thick base that makes things look a lot bigger.

i had mine side by side when i was painting them, if it wasn't for the base that is a 3rd the size they would be close to the same height, however the Legion stormtroopers are much beefier and thicker almost twice the depth

The wizards of the coast miniatures are great to sub for your legion miniatures when playing with a 6 year old.

Is that you Dr. Jones?

The WotC miniatures are also great to use for the Tusken Condition Units Expansion :P

I used the AT-ST and snowspeeper when I started they looked fine.

Other minis depend. The WOTC line had major scale variations within itself. The biggest ones would look fine if grouped into their own units IMO. I wouldn’t even bother with bigger bases. It’s close enough it shouldn’t impact the outcome. Any advantages and disadvantages of the smaller bases should cancel each other out.
