What do you still miss or want (species, spacecraft, classes...)

By Seguleh, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi, I know these threads come around every year or so, but also new stuff is released and tastes shift.

So what would you like to have in official rules in your hands?

For me it s 2 species: kaminonians and kale es. Hmm maybe also the Faust and those spider guys, like this admiral from the clonewars

A setting book to the clone wars time would be nice, or old republic.

I think equipment wise I am satisfied.

What about you guys?

Ohhhhh maybe some additional mystic trees....

Sorry couldn’t resist!

Id like to have rules on starting with a generic tree and then gaining career later

You are in luck! Fully Operational (AoR Engineer book) releases today and it has the Kaminoans as a player species. Nothing yet on the Kaleesh but I'm betting there is a good chance of seeing them in Knights of Fate (F&D Warrior book).

I would also love to see the Hatch - Admiral Trench is awesome. We had some discussion on possible Hatch stats in another thread of you want some ideas:

I agree that a Clone Wars era book would be awesome. Besides the Hatch, they've actually done a great job of picking up the most notable and interesting species from the Clone Wars show, except perhaps Dathomirians and whatever Latts Razi was (Theelin, according to Google...). Human (Republic Clone) could also be another interesting option in the vein of the Corellian Human and Mandolorian Human.

A picture of every vehicle which is already in the rules but with no artwork at all. There are several new vehicles with no artwork (no wiki or something else) and quite unclear descriptions.

My group likes visual references as not all are deeply into Star Wars.

I'd like stats for the Loronar Skyblind.

Blizz, I mean Jawas. Cats, I mean Cathar.

I want for no species. That being said, coolest species which aren’t in FFG:

Abyssin, Advozse, Amani, Amaran, Anzat, Arkanian Offshoot, Askajian, Barabel, Cathar, Chalactan, Chandrilan, Echani, Ewok, Fosh, Frenk, Gammorean, Geonosian, Harch, Herglic, H’nemthe, Ho’Din, Iotran, Jawa, Kaleesh, Karkarodon, Kitonak, Koorivar, Kowakian Monkey-Lizard, Lepi, Lurmen, Lutrillian, non-human Mandalorian, Mrlssi, Noghri, Nosaurian, Ortolan, Pa’lowick, Parwan, Patrolian, Roonan, Ryn, Selkath, Shawda Ubb, Sith, Skrilling, Sluissi, Squib, Talz, Theelin, Togorian, Toong, Tunroth, Tusken Raider, Ugnaught, Umbaran, Utai, Vodran, Vratix, Yarkora, Yuuzhan Vong, Yuzzum, ZeHethbra, and Zeltron.

FFG seems to be going “Canon,” so I think that most of these except Ewok, Geonosian, Jawa, Tusken Raider, and Ugnaught are unlikely.

Thanks to Rebels, we might get Noghri at some point.

That said... I dug up my old species wish list:

1. Arkanian (Offshoot)
2. Miraluka
3. Jawa
4. Neti
5. Besalisk
6. Kaleesh
7. Zeltron
8. Togorian
9. Verpine
10. Echani
11. Whipid
12. Feeorin
13. Lurmen
14. Ugnaught
15. Gungan
Secret Item: Sith Pureblood

If the "Dawn of Rebellion" type books are the new trend, I'd love to see one focused on the Outer Rim. This would allow a ton of species to be statted (INCLUDING JAWAS) and give us more exploratory vessels and universal specs.

That said, I want to see the following:

Species:

  • Jawa
  • Ewok
  • Amanin
  • Herglic
  • Noghri
  • Sluissi
  • Talz
  • Umbaran
  • Anomid
  • Anzat
  • Balosar
  • Defel
  • Dashade
  • Gamorrean
  • Givin
  • Houk
  • Kubaz
  • Morseerian
  • Nuknog
  • Yarkora

Starships

  • Corona-class Armed Frigate
  • Flarestar-class Attack Shuttle
  • Belbullab-22 Starfighter
  • Hammerhead class Cruiser
  • KR-TB Doomtreader
  • Novasword Space Superiority Fighter

Force

  • Plant Growth
  • Force Light
  • Expanded Dark Side-only powers
  • Expanded Light Side-only powers

I'm sure there are more things that I'd like to see, but these all top my list.

I would love to see some alternate Force traditions but I realize it would likely be a difficult task.

If I recall correctly, you can find alternative traditions in the Disciples of Harmony book. Not just flavor text but also the mechanical benefits of being trained by someone of that Force tradition.

You're right, there are 1.5 pages of text on the matter that I seem to have overlooked. Still, it only mentions a handful and I know there's more to be had!

Species I still want to see:

  • Cathar
  • Gamorrean - How do we not have these guys yet?
  • Given
  • Jawa
  • Karkarodon
  • Kubaz - Possibly still to come in the Spy book.
  • Lasat
  • Siniteen
  • Theelin
  • Tholothian
  • Ugnaught
  • Umbaran
  • Vurk
  • Zeltron

Setting books - Old Republic, NJO, Clone War era, maybe even something along the lines of an Unknown Regions primer

Campaigns - long ones, like 0 to 600XP stuff. I like writing my own, but sometimes it’s convenient to be able to grab something of the shelf and most other players I know who don’t mind GMing occasionally vastly prefer published modules

I know it won't happen, but I want new stats (that actually make sense) for multi-arm species.

I'd like official stats for Gamorrean and Lasat please.

Perhaps a planet building guide.

Finally some 'snap together/ready to go' type options for things like Imperial bases, Rebel hideouts, etc

Most species with arms have at least two, which qualifies as “multi”. ;) I know what you mean though.

You could try the old WEG module (Star Wars Planets Collection) from 1994 . It contains rules for the design of planets.

A Buccaneer spec, a combination of Deception (or Negotiation), with dual wielding talents for 1 Ranged Light and 1 Melee weapon... if it’s a Lightsaber that’s even better.

Jawa and Ewok.

A Clone Wars book. Also a setting book during and after Episode 8 and 9.

A Smuggling campaign book with nothing to do with empire/rebels

Do we still not have any of the new species from the Sequel Trilogy? Abednedo, Tarsunt, Melitto?

Big second on this. So much emotional connection and investment comes from how something looks.

Melitto will be in Cyphers and Masks. That's really the only sequel species so far. Perhaps we'll get more in an Era book, but I wouldn't expect that until after Episode IX.

Why is FFG so against short species that we don't see speaking basic on-screen? It's weird how consistently they've avoided these species as player options. No Jawas, Ugnaughts, Gammoreans, Geonosians, or Ewoks. These are all pretty recognizable, iconic species. I don't know if they just don't want a bunch of silhouette 0 character species or what.

It's weird, but it seems too consistent to be coincidental.

Given that pattern, it kind of surprises me that we ever got Chadra Fan and Aleena.

Miraluka, Cathar, Arkanian (Offshoot), Lasat, Zeltron, and fix the mess that is the Mandalorian species (pet peeve). (Mandalorian is more of a culture.) Correlian, Mandalorian, Onderonian, and Alderanian culture builds for humans would be nice (rather than them being their own "species"). I'm sure Yaccarus already has most of this done without even checking. Still would be nice to have official rules.

Expanded Dice. < I'm literally having my own made for this one!

Clone Wars Era Book. I know I'm dreaming here, but the Old Republic era is my favorite. Honestly, you could get 2+ Sourcebooks out of this era! Legacy era book would be awesome too!

An Ashla Sourcebook, a Bogan Sourcebook, & a Bendu Sourcebook that have a yin yang style to it. Literally have a Jedi career and a Sith career with lore-matching specializations.

Removal of duplicate specializations (pet peeve). I second the rules for starting with a universal and moving to a career. Actually, I would like to see trees for each class that unlocks their specialization trees. Expand Specialization trees to 5x7.

I also would like a "Player's Guide" of some sort that had allll the classes in it (one for each line would work). A book for character creation that included all the chapter ones from each class Sourcebook and corresponding content.

A "GM Guide" of some sort that included all the content from the chapter threes from each class Sourcebook and corresponding content.

I second the art for vehicles and for different weapons too. Don't need anything spectacular, pencil sketches would do the trick for me. Release this in an Armory book/books of some kind that include all the gear in set of Sourcebooks.
