So I have been mostly avoiding the FFG forum for a couple years because it gets toxic here (****, every part of the Internet is toxic) but I thought I’d share an idea and get some thought on it.

So I was thinking of turning a unit of Stormtroopers into Rebels in disguise and was thinking of removing the unit leader’s head with an older bearded bald man and calling it Rex’s Specters. May not be tournament legal but it’s super canon for Rebels to go undercover and if no one did it it would be a shame.

Thoughts?

The looks should be irrelevant. If you use them as "rebel troops" it should be fine. Or commandos when they arrive in Q3

My question with the end of Rebels heavily implying that Rex was part of the commando team on Endor, and us getting a very similar looking bloke, will we get a reissue of Rex at some point?

Good question, because Rex should be a Commander if he is released and he is better than an average Rebel. But FFG has been good about making Rebels Characters part of their games but that was when Rebels was still being made, now that the show is over I hope they don’t just stop that because there is just a treasure trove of stuff they can draw from.

Like the Imperial Patrol Ship shown in the show, that would be perfect for this game, not to mention I would like a Kanan or Ashoka. Though painting any Rebel character is going to be a challenge because there’s so much color.

Good topic. I say at least make the bearded dude we now already have with the core set into Rex.

Also @Beatty stay in these forums. It's less toxic in here when we have more people enjoying the games and the mini and the hobby (and the freaking STAR WARS) and being the voice of reason.

Let's just outnumber the negative nancy's and not let them take our forum from those who are building the various gaming communities up.

I *DO* recognize him. That is why I said re-release. What we got was a generic, it's him, but not really miniature.

What I am questioning is if we get Rex as an actual release, according to Rebels he was Commander Rex, and merits a commander release of his own.

The toxicity has died down, partly due to the release

The Rex I'm looking forward to is the one in Gen 1 Clone Trooper armor, leading the 501st Clone Battalion at the side of Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano. Of course that would mean FFG would have to release the GAR as a faction for the game. Will this happen? I hope so.

The Rebels can have Rex as long as the Imperials get Fordo.

Funny, yes, I know there is a model that looks like the older man from Endor and he looks like Rex. I also know Filoni purposely designed Rex’s look on that actor to retcon Rex into the OT. So none of this is a surprise or new.

The take away was to use Stormtroopers as Rebels in disguise and to have a “Rex” looking officer leading them. Shouldn’t be too hard to do but I I will have to look through my bits to find a head that looks like Rex.

But let’s keep the positive feels coming.

I say go for the mod, maybe not in OP, but one never knows as this is FFG's first 'miniatures' game so maybe some leeway will be given.

Secrets of the Empire has players use stormtrooper uniforms, so why not use them? By the way Secrets of the Empire is worth the price of admission.

The Legion forums are far friendlier than very small parts of the X - Wing Forum that you may allude to, in fact the Roleplaying, Imperial Assault, and Armada forums are all more welcoming and I find friendly as well. So keep on sharing your ideas and posting.

As to Rex, to be more in line with Canon, make him a Biker Scout, that’s who he impersonated in Return of the Jedi. I’m sure there will be Squad Units eventually. I would love to see a Biker Scout with a long range sniper rifle.
