Disassembling badly build Speeder Bikes

By MicroManager, in Star Wars: Legion

I found that 6 out of my 8 Speeder Bikes have their front rods glued on badly and are positioned a lot off center (they would be flying in circles in real life).

Does anyone know how to disasseble the factory build, so that I can fix this, by repositioning the rods my self? Should I soak it in Acetone or will that eat into the plastic?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Aceton will soften the plastic, also there is no guarantee it will dissolve the glue depending on which glue they used. Its better used to remove horrible paintjobs. Cut the front rods with hobby pliers/knife as close to the attachment as possible. Glue them back on in the right orientation. Ideally you should drill shafts into the connecting parts (with a small hobby handdrill) and insert a thin metal rod.

Mine are also off center, seems like they glue quickly in china. but tbh is not obvious enough to merit any effort, the model still looks great even with some millimetric discrepancies

Glue on X-Wing minis (superglue in general, you can save your own miss-build assemblies, too) can be broken by freezing them and then gently prying things off.

@all Thank you all for your advice - I think I'll give freezing it a go - and if that doesn't work - I'll try cutting it free and reposition it.:)

Take pics before as proof for FFG. I doubt they will replace after something goes wrong by your own hands

Do you think FFG would replace them in the first place? I haven't any experience with FFg costumer service - would it be worth a shot to send them an e-mail with pics?

Definitly. FFGs customer service is very good. Used to be even better, but they are still among the best.
