The Bootlegger and Rhan-Tegoth and more!

By DeepOneRisen, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

A few questions that came up during play the other night:

1. The Bootlegger starts with a Bank Loan. Does that mean that he starts with his $8, the Bank Loan card, and not the $10 from the Bank Loan?

2. When fighting Rhan-Tegoth and you need the extra success to beat him, does that mean that, if for instance, he drains 3 stamina from an investigator you need to get three more successes before you can start taking of doom tokens again, or three more successes on each doom token? Perhaps a little clarification might help.

3. Is the Triune Mask also the mask of the Three Fates? If so why didn't they put it on there? Are they expecting people to use common sense and know the "tri" is three and the like?

1: Yes, cash = $8 (presumably he already spent some of the loan)

2: Drained stamina are extra successes above and beyond the ones needed to clear the original doom tokens. For instance, if you have 4 investigators and no cultists were added, then you would need 44 (4 x 11) total successes to defeat Rhan-Tegoth. If he then drains 3 stamina from an investigator, you will then need 44+3 = 47 total successes. The order for the removal doesn't matter. In my case, I put the drained stamina on his card and remove them at the end after taking off the original doom tokens.

3. Yes, this was addressed in the original FAQ.

1. That's what I assumed.

2. That's the way we played.

3. Dumb!

I guess the Mask of the Three Fates underwent a name change partway through production. Definitely like the "three fates" name better.
