Requesting Tabletop Admiral feedback

By werdnaegni, in Star Wars: Legion

So I've finally mostly caught up on the things I wanted to do (https, getting your collection straight, counting pips on command cards, probably some other stuff), so now I just want to keep focusing on making Tabletop Admiral the best it can be.

The only main things on my to-do list right now are an automated by email password reset feature, and a simple text export for Tabletop Simulator. The latter should be easy, but the former is probably going to be a pain.

Anyway, aside from that, what are your peeves about TTA right now? What do you like about other builders that mine doesn't do? Anything you can think of that might be nice?
I can't promise I'll do EVERYTHING suggested, but I wanted to get the ball rolling and have some ideas while I've got a little time.

One thought I had was a mobile-specific view. I'm not going to make an app in the foreseeable future, but I thought maybe instead of trying to make the mobile and desktop versions work on the same page, I could make one specifically for mobile and then take out all the mobile considerations in the desktop view. Just brainstorming, I don't even know how much it would help, but it's a thought. I tried to keep it mobile friendly as is, so if you're all happy with the mobile rearranging it does, then I'll ditch that idea.

Anyway, hit me with your ideas.

And thanks to everyone who has thrown me a couple dollars or pitched in the $1/mo on Patreon in the last couple days. I really appreciate it.
If you haven't and would like to, here's my Patreon and here's my Tip Jar (Paypal) .

We passed 3,000 users this week, so that's pretty exciting.

I'd love an option to see what product contain your select upgrades for a list. Not really an issue today, but in the future it would be nice to know. From looking at your great site it seem you can find out what cards comes with each packs on the card database part of the site, but a quick way from the building screen to see what packs you need for a card would be a nice to have as the game gets bigger.

I would love to have a section for the Battle Cards. Both for reference and for possible future leagues/tourney circuits where the Battle decks may be limited to a few cards each, etc...

Good idea. I do have the DB page that I think people forgot about, but either way I can see how it would be helpful on the building page. I'll figure something out for that.

Ah yeah, good idea. I've been wanting to improve the DB page to include as many of the resources as I can. I'll get on that.

The only request I currently have is...can you make it so that the option that you click on to select has the card appear in the page space right next to wherever you are, rather than at the top of the page? It saves you from having to scroll up and down every time to see what the details of the card are.

Yeah, I was just looking at that and thinking it would be a good idea. And then I could just have 2 columns instead of one, so yeah maybe that's the thing to do.

Others feel free to chime in yay or nay on that idea.

Yay on that idea. That's been my only complaint, minor as it is.

Couple of minor 'it would be nice' suggestions:

1. Edit the list name (on saved lists).

2. On the list of saved builds, add buttons to create new rebel/imp lists. Currently we have to navigate through a few pages to do that.

Nice idea. How would that work on phones though?

I think that's where you'd get the most improvement. You'd click, say "Rebel Troopers" button, and then right under the button, the card of Rebel Troopers would show up, so you wouldn't have to scroll to the "view" panel. Same deal with upgrades.

I don't think it'll be particularly useful for desktop users, since they can see the card no matter where it pops up. But it might minimize scrolling for mobile users.

1. Easy enough, sure.

2. Well, you just have to click the navbar at the top and click "List Builder" under the legion header under Games. The list building page for each faction is the same, so there's no real "new rebel list" link to be clicked. I could make one, I suppose, but I used to have separate faction pages for IA and people didn't like it. Let me know if I'm understanding you incorrectly, or if your beef is having to click the navbar, then click list builder, then pick your faction.

Great for the first two :)

2. Yeah I think so, I'm just being lazy lol.

I should be able to make all these changes tomorrow.

I just had an AT-ST in my list and clicked the Pilot box, and Weiss did not show up. There were just no options under pilot. Page reload helped. Chrome 65.0.3325.181

There's something I need to fix, and maybe it's what happened:

If you have an upgrade assigned to a unit, then click that upgrade as if to replace it, then click that same upgrade, it thinks you added another one of that upgrade so it thinks you have one less of that upgrade left.

Hopefully that's it and your issue will be fixed when I fix that.

Another suggestion. On your saved lists, add an option to copy - I often make several variations and just change a few things.

I'd like to see the ability to print the list with card text included, which would remove the need to use the unit/upgrade cards during a game.

If it's not too hard to code, maybe the ability to adjust maximum point totals.

Also, the option for Grand Army unit min/maxes , 1600 point builds would be fun.

Not sure if these have been brought up before or if it's something you're working on. Thanks for a great website.

What about changing the name to something a little more serious-sounding? Like ListPal or TabletopBro?

I haven't really bothered since there's nothing stopping you from making a 1600 point list, but if it's a common thing I can make an option.

Sorry I'm late answering this, but if you open your list using the share link, you can then save it again. I can make an "open copy in new tab" link though if you think that would be helpful, or let me know if you have a specific way you'd like to see it work.

When duplicating a corps unit (with all its attachments) if there is another unit in the list after it (say a speeder bike) the copy does not bring all the attachments just the unit. If there is nothing in the army list after it then it duplicates it correctly.

Would you mind trying it again now? I had fixed (I thought) this a few days ago, but before you would have had to clear your cache. I just incremented the script file though so it should work now, even if you haven't cleared. Let me know, thanks!

Edit: Nevermind. Looks like I broke it again.

Okay NOW it should be (re)fixed. Might have to clear your cache if you've loaded the page in the last like 5 minutes

Opening a copy would be great.

It appears to be working now. Well done!
