Thweek-Asajj-Scout

By Sixter, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have been trying to get Thweek to work because he seems like a really fun pilot (especially with the new crazy barrel roll for the Starwiper). I wanted to give him a solid foundation to get a chance to survive until the late game, so what better than two of the pillars of the feared "Parattani" list back in the day. I am mostly aiming to have Thweek copy the highest opponent PS with a bid (3 pts) to be certain to move last, but if there is a great pilot skill somewhere on the other side that is also an option of course.

Thweek-StarwiperMk2-Virago-Autothrusters-FireControlSystem 30 pts

Asajj-PushTheLimit-Latts 42 pts

ContractedScout-TrickShot-CourierDroid 25 pts

Total 97 points

Another option Im considering is putting Expertise on Asajj instead of Push the Limit so I wont be limited to green maneuvers. But, that leaves the intiative bid at 98 which is considerably worse than 97...

You have very precisely discovered the standard Thweek build - he is very strong like that.

Asajj is a great additional ship, but I m i g h t play around with a cheaper 3rd ship than a Scout to be able to get things like the title, Gyro, etc on Asajj. That being said, the Scout is great bang for your buck.

Yeah, I realized this when I looked around on Meta-Wing, its called "Parattani 2.0".

So, I actually wonder if sticking closer to the original formula would be even better:

Asajj/Mindlink/Latts 40 pts

Manaroo/Mindlink/CourierDroid 28 pts

Thweek/Title/Virago/Autothrusters/FCS 30 pts

This leaves 2 points for intiative bid for Thweek to flourish. Manaroo creates great action economy if she manages to stay within range-1 of Asajj and is of great help to Thweek since she can give him a focus if within range-1. So, I feel there is room for some great interaction within the list if I practice it enough. In other words, a high skill ceiling, but at the same time a solid, somewhat forgiving foundation in the Asajj/Manaroo combo.

I cant wait to practice the funky barrel rolls with the Starviper title. If the 2 point bid proves insufficient in my meta I will try to move down to 97 points, Thweek moving last is kind of the concept of the list.

I, for one, would rather have PTL Asajj than be dependent on Attani - though I have never personally flown Attani, so who am I to say? I just like the independence of PTL.

That is a valid view, especially since you have to rely on just one other mindlink ship (because of nerfs). What I dislike about PtL is that it limits you to green maneuvers. The Lancer has a good dial but it still limits you quite a bit. That is why Im leaning towards Expertise on Asajj these days instead of PtL. Stress hinders both abilites of course but PtL gets shut off by bumps while Expertise still works when you get bumped (big difference).

Expertise is a very nice choice, and I am VERY conscious of how many ways one can lose actions these days haha. I, for one, just appreciate the versatility of PTL

In my last game with Asajj, she had up to 6 stress tokens (playing against Strezra & Tactician low & Miranda) so neither PTL nor Expertise would have worked here. Attanni would have given me at least a focus every turn. Attanni also tends to be bump-proof. I think it is still a nice upgrade.

On the other hand, when you loose one of the ships, the other Attanni is worthless. Then you will miss PTL. Or when your face Rebel Fenn, the focus won't be worth much.

In the end, it is some sort of gamble with the pairing.

I am not completely sure if I like Thweek. I miss the EPT, PTL viper is so strong
