That's because it is a literal rank - the commander issues orders to other units and their leadership inspires courage. Neither of these applies to boba fett - he's a lone wolf.

He’d be priced according to his value, presumably; if the AT-ST or AT-RT can be one mini units, I see no reason Fett can’t do the same.

The reason he doesn’t make sense as a commander is that he doesn’t hold any rank with the Empire. All the other commanders revealed so far have held a rank with their factions.

Erm actually Ghost Dacer I referenced Boba in as a support choice the post before Derrault, which would open the field to those who aren't commanders for more heros to be in such as the Rogue One Band.

@Derrault, as for Rogue One units not being in, you mean like not having Fleet Troopers who get almost as much screen time as in A New Hope and collectively less than the Scariff Rogue One Troopers. Also I don't think we'll see Palpatine or sithesque type until theres a match up v another Rebel force user.

I do find it odd though that we;ve only seen one side of the Hoth forces, unless there planning Hoth Troops and Sandtroopers with Tauntauns and Dewbacks for a future Wave to come out together with a new Calvary option in the mix for army building.

I want a commander boba. He led other bounty hunters plant of times in the clone wars cartoon. I mean Luke is an idiot and he gets to be a commander. Han is an even bigger idiot and now he is a commander!

The next trooper wave will likely contain Naval Troopers for the Imperials, if they're going for corresponding units.

I agree that the Rebels will likely get Echo Base Troopers next.

Tauntauns and Dewbacks would likely fit into the support slot, since they have an exposed rider.

We will probably get Sandtroopers at a later date, with Wing Guards or something for the Rebels...

I'd like naval troopers or death troopers (leaning preference to death troopers and Krennic.)

As for Boba, no reason he can't be a commander, just limit his unit effectiveness, give him some rule like orders 1, aside from himself, he can only hand out one order. He's not a good overall commander, but you can put him and one other unit on a flank and he can run them out of your main commanders range. There's no reason the imps wouldn't give a bounty hunter command of a single unit or two.

Luke led Rogue Squadron (And had the Commander Rank), Han was a General...

I'm half expecting that we'll get 2-4 other Lukes (not counting any mounted versions which could be tauntaun, speeder bike, and a pilot card) with the Farmboy, Hoth, and Young Jedi versions (And possibly a Jedi Master variant). The farmboy and young jedi being more of a support or other type of unit. Several other characters have the same potential...

The next Imperial release needs to mirror the seven figures that can be used as five and two figure units. A short range damage dealer and a long range damage dealer, but I really have no idea who they would be... not guessing on the commander either

Considering Davies has already hinted at dismounted scout troopers, and they often carry sniper rifles in games like Battlefront, it seems like Scout Troopers fit your vision- Although they'd probably get something significantly different from the mines. It'd be interesting if they used the same pistols as they do on the speeder bike- A short ranged unit with a scout move could he interesting.

Squark, we could have Dengar and Ig 88 as long range and Bossk, 4lom, and Zuckuss as the medium range. It would make sense that there would be fewer bounty hunters than rebel commandos because the bounty hunters are stronger.

A lot of you are saying no to boba as a commander because he holds no rank. What will you say when Chewbacca comes out as a commander? Aside from a few medals, Chewy has no rank.

Well, if Chewbacca comes out as solo (no pun intended) commander outside of separate (or semi-separate) Wookie faction, I'll be surprised. I'm actually really curious as to how they implement him into the game - will he be special forces? Or, since we know that different cards for the same unit are a possibility (vide Commandos), maybe he will be available as some form Commander attachment/upgrade, that turns your Commander into a two-man unit and (just an idea) gives one extra command card to choose from?

Yeah, exactly like Weiss He's a curious precedence, one that makes me believe we will eventually see some Imperial Assault characters re-imagined into Legion. I'm hoping for future expansions that brings new models and new options into older units. There is only so much formations that can be made into corps units, so packs that offers new picks for extra (character) trooper/heavy to, say Rebel Troopers would be a good idea. That's where I see a place for ones like Gideon Argus or Kayn Somos - IA characters well established as lower ranking officers.

Disney isn't directly interferring with FFGs release schedule. And there was also a statement some time ago, that FFGs Games are supposed to ne played in every SW Universe bei it Disney or Legends Canon.

If, or hopefully when, Chewie graces us with an appearance, I hope it will be as an upgrade to the Commander Solo unit.

If Boba turns up, I hope it will be as a single mini special forces unit.

Armada is I think the only of FFGs big Star Wars minis games (X-Wing, Armada, IA) which doesn't use OG characters. And for Armada that's probably only because their dev cycle is slow enough and the options still small enough. X-Wing has been using RPG characters for a while now.

I think it's interesting they jumped to OGs right away in Legion, but that may simply be FFG's signal to "Hey, we still have our usual FFG freedom here, we can "make up" stuff we need to make the game more interesting and fun to play". They didn't have a named AT-ST type guy who would be as cool compared to Wedge Antilles for rebs and decided to go with someone we might know.

It'll be more interesting if some of these characters come out as actual miniatures, and if that will satisfy people looking for more "personalized" commanders.

Yeah I'm on team make "Chewbacca a special forces unit". Same with Boba Fett - I wouldn't even want him as a commander for a Scum faction. Characters like those are heroic and have a large impact on the fight, but don't necessarily fill a commanding role. Introduce these types of characters as single trooper special forces units in the 80-120 point range and I'll be very happy.

Can't wait to see how they implement Chewbacca. I'd like to be able to field him as his own standalone unit but it'd also be really cool to be able to use him as an upgrade to Han Solo. This is similar to how I'd like to see them design Royal Guards and Deathtroopers. They'd make really cool units by themselves - but could also serve a role as "guardian" upgrades for Emperor Palpatine and Directory Krennic if they ever become things.

I want Inferno Squad for the empires first spec force unit.

We already have the Guardian keyword so this probably wouldn't be too hard to arrange with just some special keywords.

Though... Given the wording on how Rebel Weapon team works and you designate a new unit leader, I wonder...

I hear you on that, Shadow. It is not enough to pay 60 bucks and play a whole game anymore, hasn't been that way in a while.
