Can you cast this Spell if you are the Alchemist or when the Alchemist is your Follower (and of course you have and want items to be alchemised)?

Yes, of course. As long as you cast it at the start of your turn, and have an object to alchemize. You just choose who alchemizes it; you or your follower at that point.
