It sounds like you're comparing the AT-ST vs AirSpeeder one-on-one which isn't what I'd recommend. I totally agree that in that scenario, the AT-ST should win hands down 9/10 times less a lucky roll with the Snowspeeder and an unlucky defense roll by the AT-ST. What I'm getting at is that the Snowspeeder is a great flanking unit.. it's the hammer that hits from the side or rear when the AT-ST is and has been already under attack from a different unit... against the AT-ST, a great clean-up unit.

I am very excited to see what future vehicles that FFG comes out for Legion. Those will undoubtedly decide a clearer role for the T-47 as currently it's the only heavy choice for Rebels. In my lists, I plan on running one T-47 in most my lists (I am currently working on a 3 AT-RT list).

Game one was capture the stash. My opponent got excited about killing things and had a lot of his units just aiming and firing at the speeders while I walked away with 3 of the objectives and he spent the rest of the game trying to remedy that, but failed.

Game two was the objective where you have to secure terrain pieces, I put both markers close together and used Luke to tie up or kill his anti-armor and occasionally double moved cheap 4 man trooper units to tie things up while the speeders gunned down 3 AT-RTs (one shotting one of them) and strafed two other units. He called it at turn 5

Game 3 Breakthrough, the AT-ST was crippled turn 1 to a pair of shots from T-47s, mopped up turn 2 with an ambush, then the T-47's got into the backfield and strafed units behind their cover. He managed to down 1, but the other just triple moved into the deployment zone last turn along Luke and a pair of min trooper units for the win.

Note: I always dig for limited visibility on setup. If it's in the third slot, I'll happily use both of choices to make it happen, if it's in the second, I'll force my opponent to use both of his votes to get rid of it. Hands down the worst condition card for Empire and super strong with the T-47 and it's high speed. I also just take a a lot of trooper units (6 in this particular list) because you need that for objectives, it allows you spam suppression and you can tie up enemy units as needed with cheap 40pt squads forcing your opponent to commit to melee or spend entire activations walking out. I also usually avoid force users with my force user because it takes a lot of work for them to kill each other if they're spamming dodges like they should be, so you're far more efficient against units or other vehicels like speeders/AT-RTs where you can cripple or kill them in on activation...but not T-47s as you can't use your Lightsaber against it and throwing a Saber only does about 1 hit a turn, so I'm pretty happy if that's Vader's activation. Leia will make the list better on release for various reaons as will the Fleet Troopers, but for now it works.

I don't think these games are an accurate representation of what you will experience against competent opponents. Your first statement says it yourself. Your opponent didn't play the objective and lost because of it.

Your second statement you go on to say that you "one-shot" an AT-RT. 6/6 shots going through armor with an impact 2 weapon(very lucky).

You third statement makes me believe that you are lying to fit your narrative, or you don't know how armor works in this game. 8 damage turn 1? This doesn't seem right...

I stopped reading after your third statement. Anyone who reads your post will chalk up your games as anomalies or fiction to fit your narrative.

You're completely right. The T-47 isn't strong against armor. It's primary goal should be to suppress multiple units (preferably 3). I'm also working on a 3 AT-RT list. Good results so far.

Are you referring to the most definitely Impact 3 T-47 primary? Because it's definitely not impact 2 and you have pretty good odds of hard rolling at least one natural crit with 3 normal hits (it happens almost every time they shoot).

I'll grant it's unlikely to roll 3 crits and 3 hits, it's only happened to me twice, but the AT-RT's white dice with no surge is garbage, so 1 attack usually cripples them even if you don't spike dice.

This would definitely explain why you mistakenly think it's damage is so low.

I genuinely wanted a discussion about the strengths/weaknesses of the T47 but at this point it's mostly turned to a bunch of weird posturing.

Fly what you want, man. If 350 points in speeders in an 800 point game is working for you, more power to you.

Under compulsory move in the RRG, combined with vehicle movement. If a vehicle displaces a trooper, the unit gains a suppression. And the only way repulsor vehicles can displace is on the compulsory movement.

That was in fact a typo. I still think it's incredibly lucky. You have a 6/8 shot to roll a crit on 6 dice. In your example you go on to roll above average twice and your opponent wiffs 8 defense rolls (Very unlikely).

AT-ST/Speeder have a 5+ save.

AT-RT has a 6+ save.
