Prequels vs Sequels vs Scum

By Jabby, in Star Wars: Legion

Scum, preferably more than one faction of them.

However I think it pretty likely we will all have our wishes granted, or at least most of them. It seems part of what has hurt X-wing is over saturation of models for each faction. For example the rebels have six ships with one agility and eight-nine total health.

It seems like additional factions is a better way to keep new content coming and develop new game mechanics while warding off some of the power creep that has harmed X-wings game play.

prequels for expanded army options and non-white stormtroopers

Prequels, for unit variation and interesting painting projects trying to camo or apply Legion markings to Clone Troopers.

Honestly, I'm not really interested in this game until they bring in the Clones. I like Stormtroopers, but the Clones were always a thousand times more interesting.

Couple suggestions. Mandalorians; they have their own allegiances even if they worked for both the Empire or Rebels depending on the Clan. Scum; this also has a lot of wiggle room because again they have no loyalty to either of the current factions. Partisans; Hello, brutal squads willing to use whatever means necessary.

Otherwise Prequels. Jedi other than Luke with more experience and Clones! Give me Fives!

I NEED Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Clone Wars and Anakin from Episode III. That would be incredible. I would love to see Qui-Gon and Mace Windu and Kit Fisto. So many Jedi that could be commanders for the game. Instead of or in addition to Clone commanders we could see them be lead by Jedis as well. I would absolutely LOVE to see tons of Jedi in this game. Sure some would be rather the same as others, but they could honestly be aesthetic choices. You like Kit Fisto better than Plo Koon? Just replace the model. Similarly, specific Jedi with major impact on the force or the universe, like Qui-Gon, could have a card that regardless if he is dead he could impact the battle since he was the creator and teacher of force ghosting. More Jedi and clones would be one of the coolest thing to see in this.

The game can bridge the gap of time periods with having Rebels use Old Ben as a commanding Jedi, and then with prequels have Obi-Wan Kenobi.

I like everything said here. Of course we will have to wait a Long Time if any of these come but Obi-Wan is my favorite character and his Clone Wars persona is my favorite by far. Of course having him on the table means you will have to make a smart *** comment every turn and your skills at Trolling will need to be polished.

Obi-wan can have a upgrade card just called "Hello there!" I don't know what it would do, but I would use it regardless.

And yes, of course. We would have to wait a fairly long time to see any of that implemented, assuming it will be eventually.

So what should Obi-Wan's command cards be?

"So Uncivilized" lets him perform an extra ranged attack with a couple red dice.

"Hello There!" forces enemies to target him if able, while activating a couple troopers and giving them Expert Climber. And one more.

Should have a High Ground keyword, he gets a free dodge token when enemies attack him from a lower height.

Honestly those would work really well. Refined a bit, but I love the ideas you just presented.

The high ground one might not be as relevant since I feel like most of the time different heights don't occur? Atleast, from my experience.

I mean, if they go Clone Wars era, they may as well just release a commander-specific box for each side with 7 or 8 commander models. There are too many great options.

That's honestly brilliant

I love that the most popular version of Obi-Wan is the one where he’s the cattiest man in the galaxy. That’s not trolling, I mean that sincerely. I don’t know how we got from the subtle majesty of Alec Guinness’s performance to the character being a raised-pinky tea drinking dandy who also happens to be an excellent space wizard but we’re all better for it.

I have never agreed more! Alec Guinness had remnants of this and you can really see Ewan's development into the Old Ben we know and love.

Well honestly that’s what happens with age. Also living in the desert by yourself after losing everyone you loved and your only goal in life is to protect a child you can’t talk to and he’s supposed to be the savior of the Galaxy. I’d say that’d change a man.

Both versions of Obi-Wan are excellent and they represent Obi-Wan at different stages in his life. In his youth he was unstoppable with the chosen one as his Padowan. That’d make any man a little cocky and lighthearted. After the Clone Wars he was a more somber man. **** he became way more somber after the death of Satine and after Anakin fell he lost all his lightheartedness and then became the Obi-Wan we came to know in ANH.

I think it all makes sense.

Nothing.

Rebels vs. Empire.

Scum and Villainy with a change in the force organization. They may not have a Commander but have an expanded Special Forces slot for 4+ units

You have to have a commander, otherwise you wouldn't be able to issue orders and pick command cards.

I mean it could mean nothing but unlike Armada or X-wing where cards say Rebel only or Empire only some of the force cards say light side only or dark side only. Hoping that means we do get more factions down the line.

Why not all of them? Hear me out so Republic, Droids, Empire, Rebels, First Order and, Resistance all be seperate factions with scum being mercenaries available to all sides.

I think the Prequel era has a lot of opportunities for fun units and vehicles.

Not necessarily, you could release Mercenary Generic command cards and have an extra special forces slot. Trandoshan Hunters and Weequay corps, skiff heavy support. Mando Death squad jump packs support, unique bounty hunters as special forces like boba fett, IG88, Bossk etc

The command phase and issuing orders is an important part of the game strategy. Plus, why complicate things unnecessarily?

Thankfully, FFG keep things streamlined so I doubt this will be something they do. New factions yes, but they will work in the same way as existing factions (in regards to list building and commanders).

I want all of them: The clones, the CIS, the First Order and the Resistance...

And I don't just want scum, that's thinking way too small for a game like this. I want Hutt cartels, Black Sun, Mandalorians, gungans, wookiees, ewoks, czerka/mining guild, and lots more as their own factions.

Besides, there's nothing really saying that a Command level unit HAS to be a single heroic character. Why not have a more generic hero unit as a Commander (or, more accurately, their unit leader) rather than the heroes we've had spoiled so far.

Why not all of them?

But start with Scum. I can see as different factions:

1. Mercenaries. Individual SF figures, like bounty hunters, for hire to other factions.

2. Black Sun Cartel

3. Hutt Cartel (Hutts, Weequays, Gamorreans, and the like)

4. Mandalorians

5. Desert Dwellers (Tuskins, Bantha, Jawas, Krayt Dragon)

6. Binayre (or other) Pirates

The main reason would be to have a faction the played and felt differently than the other two allowing for other creative playing experiences
