Gunships that lack a spine(al)

I noticed many lists with the dualturbo gunships(lmc80 and cymoon) seem to auto-include Spinals in their builds. I wonder if there are viable builds that do not include Spinals? Otherwise ffg could simply not have the extra turbo upgrade slot and added a red die to the front/back arcs instead(+9 points)

Quad Turbolaser Cannons and H9 Turbolasers are a favorite!

H9s and Quad Turbolaser Cannons on Vader Cymoons are a pretty mean pairing for slapping down lighter ships, guaranteeing two accuracy results and allowing you to reroll/flip excess accuracy icons with Vader or Intensify Firepower. Makes small ships in particular sad, but medium+ ships with only two meaningful defense tokens (like MC75s or Interdictors or Quasars) don't care for it much either.

QBTs are cheaper than Spinals and fire out the sides and can enable Leading Shots at long range.

Ok there is the speed requirements but I have found that can sometimes play to your strengths. If you have several Cymoons or Liberty cruisers with QBTs and the enemy slow down then great news. You keep them in your front arcs and let the Gunnery Teams pile on the firepower. Better than them speeding up and getting around your flanks.

if you cannot fly a ship without spinal armament I know something that lacks a spine.

Quad Battery is very good on the liberty, due to engine techs.
