Things I want to see (if I get into this game):

By That Blasted Samophlange, in Star Wars: Legion

I'm on the fence.. mainly due to being back in school and not working.. mortgages are not cheap!

Anyways, there are a few things I REALLY want to see in this game, mainly:

First Order troops/faction. I really love the look of the sequel era troops.

Occupier Tank (from rogue one)

Shore Troopers

Imperial (and rebel) pilots - which with the fleet troopers, we may end up seeing.

I personally think we need new factions.

This is a more traditional miniature game, 2 armies just won't cut it. They got away with it for now because its Star Wars, but unlike Armada or X-Wing where this is widely acceptable due to the nature of the content (space battles), on the ground we have seen LOTS of armies represented and they need to find their way into the game before they get too far into expanding it with the current 2 armies.

I want to see

Wookie Army
Droid Army
Gungan Army
Ewok Army

or you could go with a more Era focused thing

Resistance Army
New Republic Army
First Order Army

I also personally think it would be good if they went a bit fringe on the content of these armies. Makeup some new armies from the countless alien races and expanded universe content.

What I hope they don't do is expand the crap out of the existing armies and make this a 2 faction game. That would be depressing.

Some things I'd like to see:

Rebels;

Rebel Honour Guards as a Spec-Ops Unit.

Echo Base Troopers as a Corps Unit.

Raymus Antillies as a Commander Unit.

Rebel Freerunner as a Heavy Unit.

Speeder Bikes for Rebels as a Support Unit.

Imperials;

Royal Guards as a Spec-Ops Unit.

Naval Troopers as a Corps Unit.

Emperor Palpatine as a Commander Unit.

TX-225 GAVw "Occupier" Combat Assault Tank as a Heavy Unit.

MTV-7 Light Vehicle as a Support Unit.

I definitely would like to see more factions, lets have all main eras for a total of 6 factions, maybe 7 if they came out with Scum that could be splashed about.

Rebels:

Rebel Pilots

R2 and 3PO

Ghost Crew

Ahsoka Tano

Rogue One main cast, with all of them able to be added to a single 800 point game

Scarrif Pathfinders

T-2B Tank

T-4B Tank

Imperials:

Imperial Pilots

Thrawn

Tarkin

Palpatine with Royal Guards

Death Troopers and Krenic

AT-PT

Other:

More Terrain stuff

Civilian/Droid miniatures with missions that involve saving them or the like. But mainly R4 and R5 units please!

I agree greatly with the multi-faction thing. For one it will get boring. For two a meta will appear and all the net listers will be using the exact same list. My other worry on only having two factions is they will put out new expansions these expansions will make the previous factions visibly less competitive. Most current wargames you can play your army for years and maybe add a unit here and there as something cool comes out or rules change, my marines in 40k have been fundamentally unchanged for years but I have added new units and such to keep it legal or they just looked cool to me. Board games like xwing though you have to keep buying in order to compete. Works nice for xwing, clicky games, and magic the gathering, not such a good plan for an attempt to break into the wargame scene.

As for units and factions:

Hutt empire, Hapes, Chiss, general mercenaries

Units I am mainly interested in are Death troopers, shore troopers, An AT-DP as depicted in SW Commander(heavily armored, single powerful energy weapon, slow as ****)

We are running out of Rebel units already but would like to see repurposed Clone War era gear, Droid Destroyers, Oppressors and Sentinels.

Some possible options for Corps and Spec-Ops.

Echo Base Troopers, Rebel Jetpack Troopers, Scarif Pathfinders, Saw's Partisans, Rebel Honour Guards, Rebel Pilots(in orange suits), Wookiee Warriors, Ewoks.

What's really needed is Dark Troopers... anything else is just gravy.

Rebels:

Demolition team

Gigoran heavy weapons team (the mini wampa from R1)

Wookie Warriors

Rebel Honor Guards

Twi-lek squad (with flame throwers and melee weapons)

rebel pilots - Wedge/Biggs

Death Watch - Bo-Katan

Concord Dawn Mandalorians - Fenn Rau

"hero teams"

Hera lead - Ezra, Kanan, Chopper, Sabine, Zeb as squad members

Heros: Chewie, C3PO/R2D2, Ashoka, Lando, Nein Numb

Arrow Land Speeder

Sabre Tank

Crait Ski Speeder

T-2B Tank

imperials:

Flame Troopers

Scout Troopers

Death Troopers - Krenic & Thrawn

Jump Troopers

Imperial Sentry Droids

Probe Droids

Royal Gaurds

AT-PT

Firehawke Tank

BT-1 0-0-0 team

Dr. Aphra

just to name a few....

Honestly, I hope we don't get too exotic with new units. The AT-RT is already the thing that almost made me give the game a pass. It's never been shown on screen in a film, and the only reference we have for it is from a cartoon where it was in use by the Old Republic, not the Rebellion.

As such, this 38 year old lifelong Star Wars fan has zero nostalgic or emotional attachment to it, and it just feels like dumb stuff invading my Star Wars game.

I also have no real interest in spreading to different time periods. The game honestly would have been a better fit in the Clone Wars, but the mirror matches we'll see (Rebel vs Rebel) are already bad enough thematically, it will be a complete immersion killer if we see Rebellion vs. Resistance or First Order vs. Clone Army Old Republic. It's a waste of the license if I'm not feeling immersed in the world.

All that said, I'm sure if the game looks like it's doing well in the forest six months, we'll see all of this, and I'll just pack my stuff up and not get involved in organized play.

Flame Troopers: Added as a Snowtrooper Heavy Weapon Figure.

Scout Troopers: Already confirmed by the devs.

Tbh id rather sooner see prequel era than sequel era armies.

I expected to see some Rogue One influence pretty early on in this game, given the ground combat scenes in Jedha City and on Scarif... and I find myself disappointed that it looks like it could be beyond the third release with Han and the commandos before it's even a possibility. I thought that the special ops unit would be a great opportunity to get Jyn and Cassian into an actual ground combat game, rather than as crew or pilots a la Armada/X-wing when they never actually fought in those roles on screen.

I don't know. I'm biased because I thoroughly enjoyed Rogue One and it's a personal letdown that Jyn and the team hasn't made an appearance in Imperial Assault or in these early waves of Legion. I mean, we have an alternate U-wing announced before any of the heroes are represented on the ground. :P

Who knows? The "Han" wave could be more substantial with the Rogue One team as a 3rd Rebel box with more special ops options? I can dream.

Technically, you could call the basic troopers "Rogue 1" inspired (except they're not.)

While they look rather different, the "Scarif Pathfinders" and the Rebel Commandos are actually the same type of rebel soldier.

I personally think we will get some actual Scarif troopers later on, possibly bringing the HH-12 with them to the rebel side.

I would not peg your hopes on any of these armies as most are subsets of larger factions (Wookiees/Gungans = Republic, Droids = Separatists.)

I would expect to see faction breakdowns similar to how Star Wars Miniatures did it back in the day: Rebels/Empire/Republic/Separatists/etc

While I agree that blending different era's is weird and offputting. I do however seem to remember the at-rt being on screen in episode 3 and rebels.

The rebels don't have alot of ground vehicles in the movies and I think the at-rt is the best thing they could have added after the snow speeder.

I don't see the need for more factions. Armada is just fine with 2. Just add a scum/hutt faction that's either neutral or standalone. That Will mix things up enough.

It's been used by the Rebellion in canon for a while...

I believe it was Star Wars: Commander which brought the rebel AT-RT back into canon.

What would I like to see in Legion? The Grand Army of the Republic as a faction, that's what. Until that time Legion is a no go for me.

Big +1, but the game is tremendous fun in OT era. You're really selling yourself short with such rigid expectations.

it was also in the Battlefront II by EA

I guess it's just a difference of opinion.

For me, it all just depends on how cool it looks. The AT-RT is so cool that I kind forgive it for being obscure. Actually, the AT-RT was probably what convinced me to get into the game!

Plus, I take it as a sign that Clone Wars factions aren't far away!!!

I loved R1 as well and I am in the same boat as I really wanted Krenic, Death Troopers, Jyn, Cassian...etc. ASAP for either game. But since people actually look to be playing Legion locally I'll take it for Legion first.

Holding out for the R1 imperial teams is one of my main motivators for choosing imperials.

Please for the love of god, no ewoks, wookie armies or gungans.

Chewie would be ok.

Yes please. And if you're going to include Rebels you could include Agent Callus and the Inquisitors (sounds like a band name).

Where i could see gungans and wookie armies outside their home planet, an Ewok army seems odd. I can't see Rebels flying to endor, rounding up large number of Ewoks and dropping them off on Hoth to fight. Now i can see maybe a small Ewok squad being used like this but whole armies seems out of place.
