Double TLT Agressors + Double Gunboats

Now that we know that TLT attacks can trigger the harpooned condition, is there potential for an imperial list using both to be successful? Add in that two ship lists are very popular just now and it's possible. It would still struggle against a Ghost though I imagine. Is it not worth thinking about?

I'm not sure the title is giving you a whole lot of benefit on the star wings, as you most likely won't have the maneuverability to turn, reload and still have a shot on your target. Extra munitions helps a little bit, so I would suggest trying to fit that on both if possible, or spending the points elsewhere to get a bit more consistency or survivability. If you like living on the edge (and having a huge bullseye on one of your ships, but it's scary if it lives), I'd suggest dropping both OS-1's to fit in the second EM and upgrading one Sienar Specialist to Double Edge. Give him A Score to Settle as his EPT, or trick shot for the safer option, and mark the biggest slowest target with it. Statistically, that means every TLT shot you make should have at least 1 crit result in it. It's a little less certain with Trick Shot, but potentially 4 dice per shot gives you good odds to fish one out.

Both ships have almost the exact same dial and fly well enough together, but the real challenge will be how does it hold up against more dominant or meta lists. On paper, 5 health behind 3+ dice with a focus or 7 behind 2+ and a focus should take a good 3 shots before you lose a ship, double modded alphas notwithstanding. Against a 2 ship list, you should be able to survive and get a strong return barrage if your dice don't betray you. It is still going to come down to outflying your opponent while you have terribly low PS, whichever version you fly. If you can practice and handle it well, it might be able to hang with the more popular lists, but it will certainly be an uphill battle.

Thanks for the well thought out response man. I'm a bit sick of flying high PS ships just now so I'm definitely up for the challenge of flying low PS ships.

Dropping the title is maybe a good shout. I suppose my thinking is that it gives more options for slamming to get into position when I gave a lock but then I'm going to end with no focus. EM on both is probably the best bet!

I've seen a triple alpha/harpoon ยด+ a TLT carrier at a regionals in the last 3 months or so.
It took down a ghost in 1 firing round :D
So it defintely has potential, but maybe only when you can fit in the extra missile.

Oh, and don't bother with extra munitions on the alphas, it makes them too expensive, and they will NOT have a shot the round after, nor the round after that. It usually takes about 3 + turns to shoot a second harpoon. While your boys get in position, reloads, gets a TL again, your TLT hammers down on the opponent. Extra munitions might cut that down to 2-3 turns, but is it worth it?

I agree that the title does not fit, but only because you also need a TL to shoot the bloody missiles.

I recently played against an alternative nununu-QD list with cannon title on 2 nu's with tractor beam and flechette cannon (and a bomber with harpoons for points).

I must admit I liked the title on them. They could slam and still shoot, but also reload, and still be dangerous.

Oh man, that's a great idea... It makes them still a threat after reloading.... Tractors might be better to try and pull ships into /put of TLT range and would free up an EM on one gunboat. It reduces the amount of time they need to disengage.

YES!! HARPOONS AND XG-1 CANNONS ARE THE BOMB. However, I would use Tractor Beam instead, because boy oh boy is that good synergy with TLTs

Yes I think you're probably right. An extra munitions will save a reload too XD
