While I wasn't at a store launch but was at Adepticon, I thought I'd share my input too. I played in the Core Box Skirmish tourney on Friday. Since my Legion online order didn't arrive in time for Adepticon, I went to the Vendor Hall to buy my second Core Box plus a couple extra expansions Thursday morning. I'd like to point out that there were about 4 or 5 Acon vendors selling Legion and most of them sold out of the core box by Thursday evening. One vendor reordered mid convention and restocked.
The Tourney was ran pretty well. The tables looked great! I took a picture of each table and can post them here later if anyone wants to see them. The scenarios were fun and challenging.. yet simple enough that it wasn't too confusing as many of us had to look up rules quite often. Game matches were set at 500 points so there were not many vehicles. Most games finished under an hour and a half and we had 15 minutes inbetween games to relax etc. The surprise to me was that Alex Davy showed up and helped with many rules questions during the tourney! Ace guy. The prizes awarded were for Top Rebel player, Top Imperial Player, and Overall Top Player. Each was given an Adepticon award medallion and a corresponding army expansion box. Everyone who won 2 out of 3 games won an exclusive Legion poster. Everyone received a free Han Solo alt art card. The best part, though, wasn't the awards.. it was how great each player was to each other, helping one another, and making new friends. It really was refreshing coming from a player who plays other table top war games.
How did your Launch Weekend Events Go?
There was a great turnout at Black Knight Games in Hamilton Ontario. I think there were about 12-14 people and everyone had at least a few figures painted. Unfortunately there was some confusion, the store only had their demo copy and no launch kit so they substituted in store prizes but it was still a great time. The games I played were both close. After rereading the rules reference I realize that I had made a lot of mistakes. Can’t wait to play some more organized play there.

I went to one of the local shops on Thursday who had advertised via Facebook an event, but when I walked in, there was nothing going on and the demo set was almost set up (none of the minis were attached to their bases). I was disappointed, but got a good look at the sculpts. I preordered elsewhere, but was going to pick up a stormtrooper expansion, but it was so dead I passed.
Looks like my store is doing the launch event still, just a week later! Really looking forward to the new model for OP going forward.

1. Record sheet to keep score, sign people up, etc.
2. Four painting certificates
3. Ten participation art cards for the Challenge Duels
4. Four art cards for the overall category winners of the Challenge Duels.
5. Advertising Poster with area to write/print on dates and times of the Launch Weekend Activities
6. Ten copies of the very nice cheat sheets with rules reminders/summaries for participants in the Build & Play
7. Two posters in a recruiting style, for the store to hang the one for the winning faction for two months.
8. Folder with instructions how to run the Launch Weekend activities and how to determine winners
I think that's about it.
By art cards, are they unit cards, like just alt art for Luke, Vader, Rebels, Imps?

No, they're ~8x11 art prints.
