That’s a good looking Vader!
We had lots of great games at Alternate Worlds in Maryland. One of the funnier moments involved Luke doing tons of damage but getting worn down by various sources.
Ultimately he found himself wading into a bunch of Stormtroopers, cutting them down left and right. Just the leader left in the squad when Luke ran out of gas. That leader activated, rolled one die, punched Luke in the face and defeated him!
Had a ball in Pueblo, CO. I enjoyed the learning battle and challenge battles. Had some issues remembering attacking and defending order, but once I got those down, I didn't do too shabby. The quick reference guides helped a lot. I ended up winning the AT-ST challenge for the weekend. I played my first 800 point game and won that. I look forward to many more battles in the future.
Congrats on the wins and the certificate!
I’ll be taking mine into work tomorrow and displaying them proudly in my office. We’ll see what reaction I get.
We only got six people ready to play in Tucson, but another 4 or 5 came by and watched games and bought stuff.
We did a mini-tournament with 450-point armies and modified build rules so you could play with one core. played on half-size mats and had a blast.
I brought the only rebels and won the day!
I lost track of my little quick-reference hand out, though. ![]()
best moment:
We were doing the Recover the Supplies mission and one of the guys had brought a big piece of terrain that is like a fort, complete with working doors. My opponent and I agreed that a unit leader in contact with the door or its frame could open/close the door as an action. I put that big piece right in the center (before we knew what the objective was) and so the middle objective was right in the middle of its courtyard. Luckily, the side facing me had no door while the side facing my opponent had a closed door, so he was going to be an action behind in the race for those supplies.
As soon as my lead squad grabs that box, the far door opens to reveal Darth Vader and three squads of stormtroopers on the other side. A very cinematic moment that did not end well for that lead rebel squad.

We had a great game on Saturday where one of those fluky things happened. Empire player had a stormtrooper squad near one of the key objectives. Rebels went after them with about four or five different units. An Airspeeder shot at them, two squads shot at them, an AT-RT shot at them, and they kept hanging in there. It took Luke coming in with his lightsaber to finally finish them off.
The interesting thing is that by diverting the attention of all those different units, the other objectives were scooped up by the Empire, so the hero squad really died in a good cause. I think gamers get focused on one thing, like "I've got to kill these guys," and sometimes lose the bigger picture.

I'm highly debating kitbashing one of my Storm trooper squads into SCAR.

Luke Skywalker, meet Kayn Somos.

Screw him. I want the guy (TR-8R) who beat Finn to a pulp in TFA
I know he has a canon name, but I don’t care

When they add the First Order to Legion, if they don't include TR-8R then we riot(trooper).
I was running launch event stuff for my local comic shop yesterday. Despite some interest in Facebook, nobody showed for it (timing was bad, this weekend was the local comic convention, too).
So I played myself a couple times. Imperials won the learning game, Rebels won my vehicle challenge duel. I painted up my Stormtrooper squad leader reasonably nicely while I waited for folks to show.
Four of us showed up to check out the Legion Demo at the Crazy Squirrel Game Store in Fresno, California. We were more impressed with the figs in person compared to the online photos. The shop sold a lot of product this last weekend. We're eager to get playing.
For us it was AWESOME! The store did some unique stuff:
It was absolutely phenomenal. The store ended up selling out of core sets, tables were full, we had at least 7 tables going at once Saturday night. It was a constant back-and-forth between Rebels and Imperials for the lead up until late Saturday night. Imperials took the lead then and held onto it through Sunday.
Huge shout out to the work and effort of the staff of Game Theory in Raleigh, NC. Absolutely tremendous job, they all put in way more than 110% effort.
What I learned during the Launch event is that the AT-ST is amazing and that Rebs will need some servious anti-vehicle support to fight it (Ion guns did alright but seemed to continually disappoint.)
Was there anything in the launch kit other than the certificates? Anything to becoming a Rebel or Imperial outpost other than bragging rights? Not trying to downplay, I'm genuinely curious since our local shop said they'd be doing launch events but ended up with nothing going on.
No, just the certificates.
My store said that they received "store decorations" of some type for both Imperial and Rebel, and which side won determined which decorations would go up and would also "impact league play". I was under the impression that the league missions starting next month would be themed differently depending what type of location the store was but I am not sure. I am also not 100% sure how much of that is FFG prescribed and how much is the store doing their own thing.

Oh, yeah, there's three posters. The Launch Day advertising poster and a recruitment-style poster for each faction. I don't explicitly remember instructions to hang the one of whichever was the winner for the weekend, but that could be it.
I had to learn the demo and teach it for my local store. No events happened. Also, I definitely got a lot wrong after my one pal showed up and reread the L2P. (Guess that happens when you try to read and play).
I'm honestly loving painting all the stuff right now. Given the low interest locally, I probably will not continue buying in. I won't/can't have two games that I collect and don't play.

Trying to go by memory:
1. Record sheet to keep score, sign people up, etc.
2. Four painting certificates
3. Ten participation art cards for the Challenge Duels
4. Four art cards for the overall category winners of the Challenge Duels.
5. Advertising Poster with area to write/print on dates and times of the Launch Weekend Activities
6. Ten copies of the very nice cheat sheets with rules reminders/summaries for participants in the Build & Play
7. Two posters in a recruiting style, for the store to hang the one for the winning faction for two months.
8. Folder with instructions how to run the Launch Weekend activities and how to determine winners
I think that's about it.
We didn't get to do an event in my town because so few people are playing the game... ![]()
Do you think those kits will remain available? I'd love to try to organize a "learn to play Legion" event in a month or two using the launch event kit.

Based on your profile name, etc. I think I know which store it was. I went to one of the local shops on Thursday who had advertised via Facebook an event, but when I walked in, there was nothing going on and the demo set was almost set up (none of the minis were attached to their bases). I was disappointed, but got a good look at the sculpts. I preordered elsewhere, but was going to pick up a stormtrooper expansion, but it was so dead I passed.
