Discard random opbjects?

By Fredrik Winde, in Talisman Rules Questions

When you are about to dicard an object at random, how do you solve this? can the character choos for him self or for an ex the way my friends and i play, you take all of your objects and mix them together and someone else draws a card to discard. is this the right way? happy.gif

I roll a die for each Object, highest roll is the random one. If two or more Objects roll the same, reroll between only the tied Objects.

I let a other player draw one of my objects at random.

The other player cannot see what the cards are.

Have you taken into account different cards backs? Suppose you have Adventure, Dungeon, Purchase, Talisman and Treasure card(s) all on a char, each of those has a different card back, distinguishable from one another.

We put the cards together, shuffle them under the table, then the involved player picks a random card (under the table).

We play on the floor, harder to do that gran_risa.gif ! I'd also want to keep an eye on people "accidentally" not having their best Object in the stack of card if the shuffling takes place hidden. But then, I'm a very mistrustful sorta fellow.

You're not using Fate then, right?

I roll for my objects. If I have 6 or less, I number each card a number on the die and roll. Any no. not assigned is a re-roll.

If I have more than 6 objects, I split them in 2 groups, roll odds or evens for one set, then repeat above procedure, numbering cards.

Of course fate isn't allowed... that would destroy the randomness of it!

If all the cards have the same back, like mentioned above, then another player randomly draws from the cards fanned out in the victims hand.

If they are different backs then we roll and we do the lowest. Low is bad right? Ties roll off. No Fate!

Now that I'm starting to print out alternate endings we are going to do this method for determing what happens as we have official and laminated cards, easy to tell the difference!

Well, we shuffle the cards and then another player choses one at random. Card backs are not important beacuse the 'chooser' closes his/her eyes :)

I forgot about that part sonrojado.gif

If all the cards are only adventure cards, then we can easily shuffle them and let a player draw one of the cards.

A other methode, as you said, is rolling a die, and the object who has the highest, is discarded. ( i keep that in mind) gran_risa.gif

When we play our games, i am always watching my opponent if he plays right by the rules.

I hate it, if we make some mistakes, because i was focusing on my character, and did not see what he did in his turn.

I have the alternate bonus endings too.

I can clearly see the difference between a official card and a copy one.

So what i do is shuffling the endings first, and then i roll a die, and the number is the one that must be picked in the following order.

Watch him very good then, so he does not peek lengua.gif

He he he, a lot of good ways to do this then happy.gif . I think i stick to the way we do it, and let another player draw a card whit hes eyes closed, or hi pick a number from lets say 1 to 10 (if i have 10 cards) happy.gif . fast and ease.
