Want to make sure I’m setting units up right.

By Ken on Cape, in Star Wars: Legion

On the unit card, the number below the rank of the unit is how many minis are in the unit.

It says on page 8 of the learn to play book that a 5th trooper mini has been added to each unit of storm troopers and rebel troopers.

So does that mean in a normal game one of those minis is the unit leader?

So it’s 4 units and one of those is the unit leader normally, not an extra leader mini?

I thought you add the leader to the number of minis in the unit.

The number in the upper right of the card is the number of models, INCLUDING the leader!

Only models gained through upgrade cards are added.

@Ken on Cape A trooper unit consists of 4 figures, one of which is the unit leader. For the rebels, it's the old guy with a trench-coat and for imperials, it's the Stormtrooper commander.

The extra figure upgrade adds one regular infantry figure to your unit, who uses the same rules as the basic infantry already included in the base unit.

And in case there's any confusion, the heavy weapon upgrade adds one heavy weapons trooper to your unit, who has their own weapon rules.

The only times that an added figure can be the unit leader is if your unit leader dies, or you're using the upcoming Heavy Weapon Team included with the Rebel Commandos expansion.

As stated but in a bit simpler terms

Base unit is 4 figures including a leader. You can add another figure to it. You can also add heavy weapons troopers to it.

I just wanted to make sure I was putting the right number of minis for the unit. Alot of the games I saw online looked like 5 minis, but I could be wrong. Plus the example in the book shows 5 minis.

Other than running out of points because you've done it for other units, there's no reason not to add an extra trooper or heavy weapons guy (or both) to a Corps team.
