Given that the Rebel trooper units and Special Forces units are using the same weapons, would it be fine to swap the non-special-weapons troops around? As long as the units are labeled I would think that this would be a great way to get new sculptures for the corps and SF alike.
Swapping corps trooper minis with SF
Casual play? Go for it. Tournament? No.
Might be worth considering using one or two of them as alternate squad leaders. Not so much the mon calamari guy or the bomb detonator guy though.
Sure, that's why I said not the unique weapon minis.
The rule reference already called out medics and engineers, so those kind of packs probably will fill a similar need.
I also wouldn't swap in the Unit leader from the SF into an Corps squad that is using its own unit leader. Also, fielding the SF unit at the same time but with some of the minis in the Corps unit as well as the SF unit would be a bit hinky.
But as TallGiraffe said, Casual play just make sure your opponent knows, OP probably not.
I would think that as long as they are at still distinguishable it shouldn't be an issue even in tournaments. You'd need to have all the appropriate cards on hand, and maybe proof of purchase too. I'm going to swap full figures and body parts around between them, but I'm also going to be marking each base with what unit, unit type (both symbol and the color of writing will be used to distinguish that) and unit leaders will also be marked on the base. So a glance at the base will show that unit leader mini is Aurek One Actual leading a Corps type unit, and the Mon Cal rifleman next to him also belongs to Corps unit Aurek One.

I don't see a problem with this. The special weapons are what gives away their difference.

This is a good idea though just to avoid confusion
