list fine tuning - Norra Fast Attack

This is currently my favorite list to fly and has proven itself against some pretty heavy competition (3nuQD, Nym Assaj, Dengar Assaj, trip defenders, ghost fenn, miranda nym) but it requires perfect play. Absolutely perfect play to win. So far I'm about 50/50. But, it needs tweaking.

It obviously hits like a brick house. I'm finding people have two different strategies dealing with it. Kill Wedge first, or kill Jan first. Usually Norra stays alive to end game, which is fine, she still brings a lot of pain. The problem is Jan and Wedge die really fast. Jan is focusing every turn. Wedge is TL'ing every turn he can, otherwise he's focusing. Jan saves tokens for defense, while Wedge is usually tokenless. Norra is often spending focus on attack.

So I've been thinking I need to swap out Jan. I want to keep the squad at PS9 if possible, but I want it to be something that can buff defense or be a balanced threat. I really want to confuse target priority so that you get punished no matter who gets focused first. I fear Jan is still probably my best bet if I want to keep everyone around PS9. I can replace her with Ezra stress bug and Rex... which is a valid option even though it changes the list pretty dramatically.

Options I've thought of:

Jake Farrel w/PTL, Prockets, VI, Auto-Thrusters. I prefer PTL vs Intensity when I'm running prockets.

Nein Numb w/R3A2, VI, Primed Thrusters

Fenn Rau w/VI, Hot Cop, M9G8, and add Shield Upgrade to Norra

Wes Janson w/Adapt, IA, FAA, and add hull upgrade to Norra

From your list I like Fenn. He gives your list considerable amount of defense. M9G8 is nice, as is ps11 stressbot if you find Exptertise being used alot, like on Rey. A stress Ezra with Decoy could shutdown Rey before she fires as well.

Stress Fenn can stop Expertise Rey, etc. Gives your ships a PS11 coordinate target lock as well, so put some missiles to use and deny range bonus on first engagement. Both of your ships always take locks, so just save the plasmas on those range 3 shots. Or give Norra Vectored Thrusters and keep a 1pt bid. Fenn can give her a ps11 barrel roll/target lock.

Support wookiees are always nice to have as well, even though it goes against your ps9 list. Gives your list beef, and if you make them threatening, opponent cant ignore them. Lowhhrick may have problems keeping up with FAA ships. So...

Wookiee 1 is just mean, and shreds Ghost/Fenn. Selflessness could help versus alpha strike lists, keep him near Wedge for engagement? Or change it to lightning reflexes, which kicks in Ezra and turns him around real fast - surprise!

Wookiee 2 gives you some control element, along with a ps1 blocker.

Wookiee 3 gives Wedge and Norra evade tokens and focus. Before Wedge kturns, he can get a focus & evade! Trickshot or Score to Settle (for those **** Ghosts with Sensor Jammers!)

I took the original list to an invitational yesterday and made top 4, second place in swiss with a killer MOV. Jan/norra/Wedge tabled trip crimson bombers and palp aces. Then I only lost Wedge to a Ryad/OL/QD list. I almost got a Rac/Inqi list, but couldn't push through the last two damage with Wedge/Jan over 3 turns of shooting. sad. I put up a battle report in the proper channel.

@wurms how does Fenn's ability proc if R3A2 is used? wouldn't he end up double stressed if I used both at the same time? I'm leaning towards a strezzra or lowhrick.

Ezra gives me a lot of points to work with... so i'd shield upgrade both Ezzra and Norra and then give him Wingman (to allow Wedge to K-Turn and still have expertise), and R3A2 Tactician.

R3a2 is there for expertise aka Fenn counterers. So something like Rey/Low. You can remove a focus from rey and stress her, leaving her with just the rerolls.

thanks, it's for sure giving me false hope to continue using it. My hope is the T65 parts coming soon will be able to slot into this list... if it gives Wedge free Evade or whatever, then maybe thats all it needs to start being more consistent.

Oh, yeah, HotCop/Stressbot/Fenn can shutdown any opponent however you please, really helping Norra/Wedge stay alive.

Really like your list. For personal preference I think I’m going to try it with a flight assist trifecta, swapping out Jan to add:

Advanced Optics

IA

This also necessitates downgrading Wedge from Expertise to Predator. You lose TLT and Jan bonus, gain a harder to kill, more maneuverable solid hitter.
