Speeder Bikes v AT-ST

Technically you could compulsory move a 90 degree angle, pivot 90 degrees, then move again back to the exact same spot if needed.

I was under the impression that the compulsory move has to be straight ahead. And pivot and move back would be two actions, so no shooting.

Uh no, compulsory is just a max speed move, you can turn the too however you want. I think it goes to somewhere around a 100 degree turn. This is also why it's really easy for them to not overshoot things.

That mitigates it.

Another disadvantage of bikes: how to you hold an objective with a compulsory move?

Vehicles can't hold objectives - only troopers can.

Nope, some objectives just say "unit leader", which means a vehicle can hold them. But some do specify "trooper".

I just played my first real game and I did like the speeder bikes a lot. They died pretty easily. The AT-ST was SO hard to hurt.

To be fair it is a totally opposite type of unit. Despite the S in AT-ST standing for “Scout”, the thing is a monster at the scale of Legion. While my speeder bikes are on the flank tying to be all sneaky and flanks. I am going to bu my AT-S right in the middle, next to Vader and the two of them can just go to town on anything that gets in their way. Unprgrade it does have less fire power than 4 speeder bikes, but upgrade it and let it shoot all four weapons. I didn’t do this in my game, and I didn’t think the motar was all that good, but just being able to put an extra suppression token almost any where you want on the battlefield is awesome. Maybe I will put it on the side so the whole battle field is basically in its front arc.
