Clawdite shape shifter senator

By FrogTrigger, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Is this a very potent support figure? The regular is the same cost as Hera and while the ability won't let you decide in the moment, you still have the potential to make three of these token buffs per round.

Has anyone played around with this in test games or tourneys? Thoughts?

No. It is too unreliable and both are about a point too low in health or a point too expensive. If the forms weren't unique, there were 2 to a squad or they were a smidgeon better somehow, you'd see them more. Look at the elite weequay for comparison.

That said, if you add one rebel spy, they do make for.really fun casual lists.

Id disagree. The elite claw was a big factor in me winning a regionals tournament. It is glass cannony but it can work well in the right lists and play style. I cant speak as much for the regular though.

Yeah the Elite can work, the regular one is too weak and low health.

I believe the regular clawdite could work well as a runner. He's got 6-10 movepoints. He might survive a shot, which the rHG definitely won't. But he's only 1 dude, compared to two.

Theoretically I'd play a regular clawdite. Based on the idea that rebels are bringing Mak as a way to enable spy cards. I'd take a clawdite to let me have intelligence leak. Who knows, maybe in scout form you can go c3p0 sniping.

I took both a r and eClawdite to a regional. I didn’t do well, but the eClawdite was really effective. The issue is that you need to have a lot of practice with him (which I didn’t). Dependent on the map and the opposing list you need to know how you’re going to assign those 1, 2 or 3 power tokens most effectively. They may not be as strong as a focus, or as flexible as Hera, but they can be equally potent if used to their greatest effect. Knowing when the damage counter tips the odds of a one-shot kill, or a surge will allow you to take that high range shot, and when these are the things you’ll need is critical.

After that, the scout form is great for removing wounded figures that your opponent is trying to get out of harm’s way. And access to assassinate and heightened reflexes allows for some really surprising one-shot kills through a pile of bodies. The dice are a bit unreliable though with blue, green, yellow.

The rClawdite, on the other, hand was absolute garbage! Access to 3 point Comm Disrupting seemed a great idea, but doesn’t justify the rClawdite cost.

I'll have to agree with @TheWelcomeMat88. On my first attempts, I played her all wrong. She's a bit of a glass cannon. But, more importantly, if you keep her in the back and take advantage of spy cards and perhaps a few objectives, she pays for herself.

Well he asked specifically about the Senator qhich is the weakest of the 3 imo and the most unreliable. He also asked about it as a support figure. And compared it to Hera. I'd rather have Hera as a support figure because of the range of her support, better health and ranged weapon.

As with most of the shoehorned Merc figures like winguard, the clawdites don't fit im the Merc faction. At 4 and 6 points there are too many competing figures of value in the faction. At 1 pt less they would fill a niche.

The fact that most of you disagreed with me but filled you post with qualifiers that contradict your own stance validates my point

Hera is better for sure, imo.
