Close Combat over a barricade?

By beefcake4000, in Star Wars: Legion

Possibly an odd one but the rules for close combat engage simply talk about moving into base contact. Can I have a combat that is fought over a barricade? As in the defenders are touching a barricade but it's a long one so I can't go around to make base contact. If I touch the barricade is that enough? Or do I need to go over it first reducing my speed to 1?

Base contact means base contact. You can’t initiate a melee unless the two bases are physically touching each other.

Not read the rules yet but im amazed if thats how it is, seems crazy?

So if two figures re upto the barricade, firing at each other, point blank, they both get the cover of the barricade?

After looking over the rules reference I don't see anything that would allow Melee while being behind a Barricade.

The bases need to be touching and that is not the case with being behind a Barricade.

As long as you can find a way for the bases to actually touch each other, then they are not in Melee.

That's how I would rule it.

All previous wargames ive played have it that if they are both in contact with a wall/arricade, they can engage in melee (not saying that is how legion is).

Just seems odd to me?

You can move through barricades and enemy trooper minis so I doubt this situation is that restrictive.

You ignore the barricade, when the unit leader is in base contact with it. Both units don't have cover.
