I would assume the rebels will get a land speeder. The empire will get the tank from rogue one. Probe droids will most likely be a special forces unit also. There’s a new stormtrooper type in the solo movie for sure.

Landspeeders and repurposed CW tech for rebels, Walkers and Hovertanks for Empire.

Bounty hunters are hardly commanders, I see them more as Spec Ops. And they are just about the definition of "Scum" or neutral units.

As for vehicles, the golf cart the Rebels use to move around the hanger is all I can think of for film vehicles without being huge. Edit: I guess Speeder, not that we see them used by either faction.

As for other points, many of the Storm trooper varients are either no longer canon, are rediculous, or are just the same armour in a different paint scheme. We don't need Magma troopers and Evo troopers just to pad things out. I'm sure there's more than what people have listed available, but releasing new factions prior to releasing "all" of the options for Empire and Rebels is probably a better idea. Then later units for the original factions can benefit from new Keywords, or be designed to be a counter/just as powerful as the units for the new faction(s).

Not just a Scum & Villainy faction ... more factions in general.

The GCW period is my favorite, but the Star Wars universe is to diverse to just have two wargame factions if this game is going to last.

Back in the day I was a big fan of the WotC game. I thought the way they handled the Fringe faction worked pretty well. You could use them as their own faction which could be further broken down into sub factions like Hutt, Black Sun and Corp Sec. You could also incorporate them as allies in the main two factions. I think Legion could do far worse than following a similar path.

Have you ever considered people like Star Wars for different reasons? I'd much rather have a Clone Wars era Legion game instead of GCW. Other people want scum and fringe factions.

I think a miniatures war game needs more than 2 factions or it will become stale. The small number of factions works for board games like Armada and Xwing which are designed to be a pick up and go system with relatively quick games, kind of like Magic but with miniatures. Legion is a war game where 50% of it is the hobby and having only Rebels and Imperials would be fairly boring quickly. Plus wargamers tend to like building armies, I know very few people with less than two armies. I have 6 just for 40k. I would like to see clone war era as well as mercs, but even in GCW era you have several additional factions that can be fleshed out and added; Hapes Cluster, the Corporate sector, Hutt Cartels, Black Sun.

I'm all for more factions but I genuinely want to see them as armies that make sense. I see no reason why this game won't stretch across eras. Republic vs Separatists, First Order vs Resistance... I will bet money that one of those conflicts will be introduced in the next two years.

However, "Scum and Villainy" does not make sense as an army. More often than not the various players were rivals, not allies. So I hope they don't create armies that way. Boba Fett is not a military commander, he is a bounty hunter. If anything I'd rather he be an expensive specialist unit that can be hired by any faction.

Given the amount of time a new faction would likely be in R&D FFG would have to start developing at least a few months, if not a year before release. Besides, by posting what we want to see, maybe (hahahaha) FFG gets the idea of what others things players want to see in Legion. I will enjoy the game in its current form, but that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to want other things out of the game.

Besides, right now 90% of us do not have any product. We can't/couldn't discuss strategy with any real meaning, or show off minis. So all that is left is analyzing the rules, complaining about oversights in the writing of said rules, and talking about how we hope the game will develop in future.

The Resistance has pretty much NO ground forces that we've seen, besides the Salt skimmers (which are GCW era tech), and infantry. So unless the last movie has massive ground battles, I don't expect them any time soon.

"Scum and villainy" would have a lot of crossover on units though. Each of the criminal cartels have pirates, thugs, hire bounty hunters, and would use similar vehicles. So then if you want to field Hutt cartel, you have a Hutt leader, Weequay pirates, Hondo, etc. Plus we have examples of the different factions working together temporarily when it suits them in various media.

If someone wants to play a scum army, there is no reason FFG shouldn't release it. If you play Rebels, you don't have to buy scum. Releasing a new faction does not limit the one you want to play, except in terms of release schedule.

Saying NOT YET because of some arbitrary qualm you have is stupid. It's a game. Get over it and let people ask for the content they will spend money on.

R&D is about 2 years for a product. Legion has been in R&D since FFG got the Star Wars license. There was a vid FFG posted on YouTube where they talked about the development of Legion. I think it's the longest game in development.

That said, they probably have finalized product for the rest of the year, with next years product finishing up in the next few months.

The game has been developed. We are not beta testers. The game has been balanced and now a meta will be born from it. You know what kills games? Stale metas. Introducing a 3rd or 4th faction very quickly will increase the diversity the game offers and increase the amount of people who want to play, both of which are good for the health of a newly released game.

More importantly, these decisions are up to FFG so telling people to stop asking for other factions is ridiculous.

I am not telling people to stop asking for factions, I'm expressing my opinion that it is too early to introduce an entirely new faction as of now.

There were post about scum and villiany factions before we were anywhere near release date and I've personally seen enough of them.

I have stated my opinion that it is to early to request another faction as of now. I'm not telling people that there should be no other factions, just that introducing another faction should be a long thought out and mesured process, rather than the EU dump that XWing got.

as of now there is no new faction. the earliest we will see one is probably june/july that gives plenty of time for a meta to evolve

So stop looking at them? I mean right now I get it, there's only one group for the forum until FFG separates it out. Again, what else was there to do when the game was announced but speculate on what units and factions we would eventually see?

xwing didnt get scum till wave 6, that was in 2015 3 years after the core set...

For the time being I’m happy to build an Imerial army (painter and collector, not too interested in the game itself) but I really hope I get the chance to collect a Grand Army of the Republic in the not too distant future. A 501st lead by Anakin and Rex would be a dream.

Keep it the original trilogy. If FFG takes this game into any other star wars era before fleshing out the original trilogy, I will happily bow out. The clone wars trilogy sucked, and the Disney trilogy isn't getting any better. I do not want to go on a rant, so I'll leave at that about the last jedi. Yes, a scum and villainy faction would be dumb, partially because it will take away the possibility of having mercenaries that could be hired for either side. Also, a scum and villany faction will slow the creation of new units for the rebels and the empire significantly.

As long as I look at the table and see "Star Wars" then I'll be happy. If I see a bunch of unknown troops to all but the most hardcore fans then it will no longer be a Star Wars game for me. That's why I am a huge supporter of alternate sculpts and poses over more and more obscure units. It's tough because there are only so many troops from the movies. I guess we need those spin off films to keep coming (ie thanks Rogue One!). Or they should go into clone wars/sequel era. Just please don't lose the feel of Star Wars.
