Routed and Winter

By niarBaD, in Runewars

We had this come up for me personally, and based on the rules. Destroy standing first, then routed. At the same time, that seems to be more delt towards combat rather than winter, but i'm just curious what your guys opinion on it is.

I only had 4 food come winter, In one Space I had 3 Necromancers, The Knight and 2 Routed Archers. Now at first I went to take the Archers first when my friend reminded me of the routed first (So I killed two of my necros instead) I'm just curious, is that right? Pretty sure it is, but would be nice to put any doubts to rest.

"DAMAGE standing units before routed units" is only for COMBAT damage,

Winter starvation rules tell you to DESTROY units over the max number of food you can supply, and this is different than damaging.

You can DESTROY whichever unit you want, presumably your weakest and routed units

Except under "Routed UNits and Heroes" on Page 22 there is this line.

"When a player is forced to damage or destroy one of his units, he must always choose a standing unit if able."

The fact it says destroy as well, makes me think Winter has to remove standing units first down to your food limit. Per hex.

I've always played that the "destroy standing units first" doesn't apply to the winter, any more than having to destroy an overstacked area would apply to it. It seems a bit silly that routed and unstable units would be free to eat the supplies, but not the stalwart, hard working ones.

The rule about destroying standing units first seems to be geared towards battle especially, so that if you have the Warlock ability trigger, for instance, you can't use it to destroy one of your routed units (thus not affecting your strength), but you have to use it to reduce your strength.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to get clarification from Corey, though.

Italics / bold are a better way to highlight words without seeming like you are shouting at someone.

Yeah, except this forum is a pain in the butt to use some of the formatting features, since you can't inline it like you can in most forums. I'd probably do the CAPITAL over bold just because it's more convenient in this piece-of-junk software.

That's funny, I've always thought this forum was easier than most others, since I can just use ctrl+b for bold and ctrl+i for italics, like in Word. ;)

Hmm, I haven't tried that. So I guess bold and italics may be easier.

I still think this editor is a piece of crap. No copy/pasting, editing a previous post sucks, trying to quote other posts sucks. This is by far the absolute worst forum software I have ever used, and I'm surprised a company like FFG is wasting their money on this piece of garbage.

Trying to quote others on this forum is the only thing I really find painful. The popup box for pasting text is pretty meh but it doesn't bother me that much.

Oh, and how when you go to reply it omits the OP for whatever reason.
