Beginner game-core rule book skill question.

By kkahl395, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I noticed that in the beginner games, force awakens, edge of empire etc there is a "knowledge skill". The full core rule book character sheets do not have that as a separate skill. Does the "knowledge" skill from the beginner games get included into a different skill in the core rule book?

Thanks

Mod approval took a week.../bump

While I've not bought the beginner game, i can confirm that in the core rules, there are seven separate Knowledge skills: Core Worlds, Education, Lore, Outer Rim, Underworld, Warfare, and Xenology. Each one covets a different sub-set of knowledge.

Most times Knowledge skills are called out, the specific skills are identified.

The Beginner Games have a few skills streamlined...the general Knowledge skill that you mention as opposed to the more specific Knowledge skills in the full game, Piloting instead of Piloting (Planetary) and Piloting (Space), etc. It’s done to make the Beginner Games less complicated and quicker/easier to run.

As noted, the Core book is more detailed. You'll notice the crit charts are different too.

If you want to convert the pre-gen PCs to core-compatible PCs it's not that difficult, a task made simpler by the use of OggDude's amazing character generator:

Once you create the PC using the correct career/spec, you'll see which actual Knowledge skills are available to the PC in question, you can let the player decide how they want to spend any skill points already allocated. When I did this conversion (years ago), I believe I had to grant a free 5XP to one of the pre-gens in order to account for the skills and talents chosen, but that's no big deal.

Thanks all
