MSU fleet

By Cboerger, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So my first store tournament fleet was a rebel carrier build and it did pretty well.

I want to try a multiple small unit fleet to see how it does and get some feedback.

Black And Blue (399/400)
Rebels

Commander: Mon Mothma

Objectives: Targeting Beacons, Planetary Ion Cannon, Solar Corona

[flagship] MC75 Ordnance Cruiser (100)
- Mon Mothma (30)
- Reinforced Blast Doors (5)
- Wide-Area Barrage (2)
- Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
= 144 total points

CR90 Corvette B (39)
- Heavy Ion Emplacements (9)
= 48 total points

CR90 Corvette B (39)
- Leading Shots (4)
= 43 total points

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63)
- Early Warning System (7)
- Expanded Launchers (13)
- Gunnery Team (7)
= 90 total points

Nebulon-B Support Refit (51)
- Salvation (7)
- Toryn Farr (7)
- Spinal Armament (9)
= 74 total points

A couple thoughts: your big ship get no bonus from Ms mothma, which is a waste. Also you MC30 doesn't have foresight, which is almost a crime, because with mothma Foresight is very durable. The two most power dice just disappearing at medium or long range. It's more powerful than EWS.

Also on the MC30: expanded launchers is pretty expensive and APTs or ACMs are probably going to get you farther for a much better price. Either way you are going to want ordnance experts, as the likelihood of having two target in close range or one arc is pretty small, so ditch gunnery teams.

also this list will probably need a little fighter support. Maybe drop a corvette for tycho and shara and a flotilla?

Just some thoughts. hope that helps!

Changing Toryn for Foresight might be smart, as Salvation wants to be far away and everything else wants to be close. Compared to Spinal Armament, Slaved Turrets, DTTs or QBTs all shave a couple points off with similar effect. Leading Shots on the CR90 is costly to your damage; if you bring SW7s, every roll is a good roll instead. Strongly agree with the above comment, especially concerning the MC75; swapping it for Admonition and fighters is a good idea. For objectives, Most Wanted or Opening Salvo should help you more than Targeting Beacons, assuming you include MC30 reroll upgrades anyway (you should.) Hyperspace Assault is beloved by MC30s. Lastly, consider a strong bid for first, as shorter-range, fragile ships really appreciate it. Good luck!

I agree Admonition & Foresight in Mothma lists is very nasty.

If you wish to keep an MC75 flagship then look at Rieekan or Dodonna as admirals.

Awesome! Thank you for your input.

Would projection experts on the Nebulon be worthwhile to help keep the mc30 alive?

I would say no - the nebulon has woeful shields to begin with, and is very easy to pop making it a big point sink in your list for very little effect. If you ABSOLUTELY must have a small PE ship, the cr90 does it better. Still not a recommended avenue however.
