Ranking system??? Could it work????

@Isnigu mentioned on another thread, that in Germany (and a few other countries) use https://www.tabletopturniere.de/de/t3_etr_show.php?gid=143 to track players. Its seems very up to the organizer of a tourney to use the site, but if the community pushed it enough, I feel like we could make this the norm across the board.

It also provides a great way for stores to post tourney's ahead of time so that the players can potentially make travel plans to play across the country/world. I am coming from a United States perspective, but via the link above, it shows the rankings of players across all of Europe (those who use it at least).

It seems to have a couple caveats to it, like tourney's over 18 players require a $40/yr account to post/load results.

I don't see FFG organizing something like this, but if it became widely used, it could be of real benefit. Could possibly make for tourney's to have first round games be based on seeding, which could be fun.

German link used above and here: https://www.tabletopturniere.de/de/t3_etr_show.php?gid=143

Could it work? Are there other options? I know there is some interest based on several threads around here, but how much?

The biggest benefit of that site isn't even the rankings. It's a fantastic way of tracking when there's a tournament and where, and who's going. The rankings is just a side-thing (although a very welcome one). It is very precise in what it takes into account though!

Sidenote, how many IA tournaments have more than 18 players generally? :P

True, seems like several regionals have lately here, but normal store tourney's certainly fall short of that! Good point.

Bring a TO from Germany, I love that site. It's really useful ...

With 113 views and no conversation, sounds like it couldn't work after all.

Dreams crushed :(

I personally would love it. Break people in to quartiles and match appropriately; I could see it being a very handy tool to help preventing bad SOS shenanigans.

Yeah I'm liking it too. Our skirmish meta in Singapore is small (7 was our largest tourney turn out) and we have nor organised way of setting tourney schedules, much less keeping track of rankings. This would be great for growing the community till the point we get more than 18 a tourney. (One can always dream...lol)
