Magnetic Fun

By player2801864, in Star Wars: Legion

I swear I saw it somewhere between here, reddit, and Facebook. However, does anyone know what size magnet to get for the AT-RT and Snowspeeder to switch up weapons?

Haven't seen the models in person yet, but 1/8 inch Nd magnets are usually my go to for vehicles in every other game. 1/16 inch if they are very delicate parts.

It's a fairly small bit. I'd actually be curious if it holds okay without a magnet. I normally use 1/8" but I think that is likely too large for the peg these are on. 1/16" would probably be better though one option is to just to use a 1/8" and put a paper clip in the peg of the weapons to link to. I really don't think it will take much to hold that in place.

From what I've seen online, the snowspeeder is just a peg that fits down in a hole on the top of of the back of the speeder. There's really no reason to use a magnet for that.

There is no peg to hold the weapons on the AT-RT, you are supposed to glue it directly to the body. Somewhere I have a response from @Sorastro about the magnet size.... Let's see if he beats me to it. ;)

Hey there! I've tried it with some 2mm (diameter) magnets (1mm thick) and it works great :)

Hi! I didn’t drill any holes; I just stuck them down with superglue. You might like to chop a couple of millimetres off the shaft of the gun to compensate for the extra length added by the two magnets though. :)

Oh, that's too bad. I hadn't assembled it myself; I had just assumed when looking over the demo model at the shop that the cylinder its mounted on extended up into the main body a bit.

Thank you!

That's what I thought originally as well. Sorastro was kind enough to reply to questions regarding the building of the AT-RT regarding his magnetization which is the only reason I know any different.

Thank you!

Glad I could help!

I can't recall the size, but it wad super easy to magnetize.
