Well, what about Tempest, title, Sensor Jammer, add Harpoon or Cruise and Chimps for ‘hope to get someone in arc that I target locked’ hey at least it’s something different than AC.

It feels that Rebels have the support role locked down yet Imp genetics are limited to super vulnerable Squint/striker, TIE shuttles and 2 Academies. And the one TLT we got as mentioned above.

Id like to mention that a zeta specialist with collision detector title and fcs is nothing to sneeze at.
Sienar Specialist with TLT and LWF are amazing. Definitely go for that. I'm surprised they haven't made a bigger splash in normal games though. Three of them and Jones to help with rerolls is crazy deadly and helped me take out even harpoon squads.
How bout Baron of the Empire, Title, Juke, Autothrusters 24 points
Just to hear people say, "WTF is *that* pilot?"

Yup, this.
I mean, it's boring as heck to play. 0 skill required, too. Gunboats are a lot less NPE and require quite a lot more finesse to fly well - so...why 'no gunboat'?

I am allready planing to fly 2 gunboats
LWF and unguided publishers are pretty decent, but the Bomblet and Trajectory version can do some cool stuff too

The trouble with that is it's 25 points and lower PS than a lot of munitions ships. Focues + evade + autothrusters is good, but focus + autothrusters is very dicey.
Snap Shot + Juke + Autothrusters A-wings would probably get more mileage in the long run.

There is, of course, the whole pesky issue of A-wings not being available to the Empire. Just one of the many stipulations the OP posted that were ignored.

Indeed. In that case I'd reiterate my original comment of a Snap Shot + Vader + Intel Doom Bomber. Same point cost, with a good deal of guaranteed damage and slightly higher PS.

Sienar Specialist, Ion Cannon Turret, either UGR or LWF, 24 points.
Ion may help buy time for your Gunboats to turn around and reload.
Looking forward: generic TIE Reaper with Ailerons, Systems Officer and TIE MkII - green banks on both Ailerons and dial means you can activate Systems Officer twice.

Also, since large ships aren't allowed, you could consider:
Saber Squad pilot with ptl and mkii engine. Don't need autothrusters if there are barely any turrets.
