miniatures arms not going on correctly

Legion is a slightly stiffer plastic. I would also recommend against this for other reasons and go with gap filling super glue.

As previously mentioned, plastic glue doesn't react with the plastic used for Legion. Super glue is really the only good option.

So, at this point, I've assembled 3 core sets. My experience is that if you see a gap, your first course of action should simply be to apply more pressure. For those not familiar with the models, the arms are frequently single pieces for both arms with a connector on both sides of the torso, so by the act of fitting the arms in place, you've slightly bent it outwards. This can be easily solved by just applying pressure to both sides of the shoulders. There will be a few models with flash i.e. extraneous plastic, that you need to trim for a good fit, but those have been in the minority. If both of those fail, you can just cut the pegs down by a substantial margin or just remove them. That "natural gap" or the amount of space you'll generally see between parts even if everything is correct, is pretty light on these models.

Most of the gapping issues I've seen on other's models look more like insuficient pressure was applied to shoulders during assembly than anything else.

The gap issue is definitely noticeable on certain models way more than others. Luke, the duro, and the Rebel grenade launcher seem to be the "offenders". Easily fixable though!

Didn't mean to steal your thunder. I didn't peruse the entire forum, that comment just popped out and I added my 2 cents.

Not all plastic glues are the same. I will test the models with my favorite glue tomorrow and see what’s up with them.

From the Getting Started article (of course we know articles are not always 100% correct, still)

Assembly Tools

Star Wars : Legion miniatures should be assembled with superglue. Plastic cement will not cause the pieces to bond properly, as they are made of plastic that’s incompatible with plastic cement. White glue or other adhesives do not dry quickly enough, do not provide a strong bond, and are messy to use. We recommend superglue that comes in a bottle with a fine applicator tip. Superglue made by paint or games manufacturers is generally the best to use.

As far as I am aware there are only two types of plastic glue, Polystyrene Cement and Acrylbutyl styrene Cement (please correct me if I'm wrong). If the plastic is not one of the types those glues work on, they won't do squat besides make a mess.

I got the right arms for the right torso, dude. The mini zip lock bag only comes with vader, luke, and atrt gunner, not easy to mess that up. About 4-5 different arms have trouble fitting. I will cut the warped pieces after double checking all of the miniatures.

My favorite plastic glue works great. Melts the arms right into the body and leaves no gaps.

Plastistruct plasticweld. Sold in little glass bottles with a brush in the cap.

Getting Luke’s arms to fit ain’t working. Seems like my only option is to cut the pegs way down. ?

I think Luke's arms need to be immersed in hot water to adjust their fit before gluing on. They seem to spread too wide, after the hot water, pinch them together, towards each other, and it should fit better.

My advice for dealing with the gaps.

1- like @MasterShake2 said, applying more pressure gets rid of most of them

2- the joints are like keys they only fit one way. I found that lifting them up or down a bit sometimes helps them fit better.

3- These models are amazingly devoid of flash or seemlines, but sometimes there is a little bit extra PVC on the part that fits into another part. If after dry fitting you can't get them to go together a little trimming often helps.

As for glue I use:

I love the control it gives me.

Is it actually, or just the tackiness of the glue itself? I ask because other plastic glues seemed to work but then fail with use Also pastistruct plasticweld is marketed as a Gap filler so I'm not surprised it fills the gap. It's not that I doubt you, I just want to be sure it is actually working. If it is, then we have a better idea of what kind of plastic is being used, which will help identify other product that will work.

Edit: My FLGS used Tamiya plastic glue on the models and the held until they were used, then the models fell off the bases.

I have not attempted to glue anything to the bases. I will test it out and post back here.

The join in both the harder plastic used in the ATRT and the softer plastic for figures is very strong with plasticweld

I do think the suggestion to use super glue is good as it’s nearly failure proof.

I can't speak for the Rebel side of things, but I assembled 28 Stormtroopers, 6 Bikers, Vader and an AT-ST yesterday. No issues on any of them.
