Official FFG Star War Legion video, notice anything at the start of the video?

Secrets Of Legion

Notice that Imperial Assault was not mentioned AT ALL, in the line of FFG Star Wars games?

Way to keep the people the buy and support the game happy, FFG.

I respectfully disagree. I know it's a drought right now, but we can't be those guys. This is like showing up to someone else's birthday party and saying "Where's my cake?" IA's absence is conspicuous, but also understandable. It is the most likely to create product confusion. If you go looking for things about IA that offend you, the wait will be miserable. No matter how much attention is focused on Legion right now, it doesn't make our game any worse. So go enjoy it.

I love IA I also like what I’ve seen from Legion. I just think FFG should have mentioned IA when they mentioned the other Star Wars games.

To be fair, this has been a long as **** birthday party.

Time for them to eat their cake and go to bed.

LMAO!!! So true. Get it over with already. I need to pick out a suit for it's funeral in a few months.

To be honest, there's really no reason to not include Imperial Assault in the otherwise complete lineup. No matter what the reasons or intentions from FFG's side - it IS a slap in our face. This can only be remedied by an announcement for a new expansion or at least a new blister-wave this friday!

To be fair, it could be as simple as the whole Hasbro "you can't call IA a boardgame" bullshirt they have to deal with.

And instead had to vaguely offer the "..and a galaxy of role playing games" line

Yeah, the thing is Rebellion was mentioned, and that's arguably an even more grey area than IA.

But I agree, I just watched the video too, and I'd say that if we had to, we'd probably fit in that "roleplaying games" line.

Still, it's like they had the opportunity to throw us a bone for once and intentionally decided to not do so. Like, I'm sure we're all reading into this too much, but on top of everything else this just feels once again like we're the redheaded stepchild.

Ah, that is a good point (re: Rebellion).

But yeah...

How about the first part of the guy describing coming up with legion...sounds exactly like Imperial assault... a character driven game where they have special abilities... hmmm....

We don't know what's going to happen. As much as I hate to say it, we can't rule out that the release of the app and Legion together are a sign that we are moving away from boxed content and blister packs. But there's still no point in getting down about it and blaming Legion. Get busy. Write FFG and tell them you want more IA. We want Yoda and Scout Troopers and Speeder Bikes and Ewoks and Thrawn and Ezra and missions and heroes and everything. Sign up for skirmish tournaments. Post videos of your crew playing and share them here. It's a long shot that might not change anything, but if IA is dying we can still turn this around or at least convince them to let us go out with a bang.

May not be true but it definately feels like they're trying to exponge the existance of the real 'story driven' miniatures game with 'character abilities'. IA is a bigger seller than a lot of the games mentioned or on display in the background.

The App may be good but is not (and was never meant to be) a replacement for a real campaign and just a few blister packs will NOT satisfy campaign players out there, and neither will Legion.

Over the past 6 months my trust of FFG has started to wane a little. Plus the debarkle with Armada w7 delay. If the future of SW with FFG is Destiny and Legion, count me out.

Now, where have I put my Decipher CCG cards?

I got into board games two Christmas's ago with IA. I was very impressed with the quality of product that I saw and this led me to delve into exploring other games by ffg. I consider myself a very loyal customer, once I find a quality brand I gerneally stick with it. Blizzard would be a good example of that for my previous gaming life.

But ya this whole legion thing has rubbed me the wrong way. Destiny kind of did to but I'm not a lcg player so it didn't bother me that much. But this one hits close to home. I'm not saying you shouldn't make the game but to completely ignore part of your player base for the sake of that game sends a really strong negative message.

This is not a doom and gloom IA is over!!!!!!!1111!!one11!!eleven type post, it's a vent about customer loyalty and customer appreciation, because the two go hand in hand.

Empire vs. Rebellion wasn't mentioned, either.

It's only a slap in the face if you choose to take it that way, and, if you do, then it's very much a case of "Why are you hitting yourself?" Except this time, it's not FFG making you hit yourself, but you are actually slapping yourself.

Kind of like this.

Bingo! ;)

Seriously, the app is probably the priority of IA at the moment. Since the release of the app (almost 4 months) we had 2 or 3 app updates including the addition of villains and allies. Now I think their next step is to release a new app-driven campaign based on the existing expansion stuff. And that needs play testing I suppose. So their time must be spent at play testing the new campaign. It's not like we did not have 3 big box expansions, 2 small box expansions and over a dozen of blister waves in 3-4 years. If I'm wrong then great! But I'm not going to complain about the lack of new physical material (still have a lot of figures to paint already ;) )

Fair one (thinks of the many minis at home I need to get painted up!) :)

Whilst all true, the app is still not comparible with the true campaign experience.

With lots of material from the original trilogy and anthology movies still available (Rogue 1 in particular with some tropical tiles) plus ewoks etc from ROTJ, it would be an absolute wasted opportunity if FFG did not bring out further campaigns. It would be similar in disappointment to when Decipher 'lost' the CCG license when that had so much more room to grow as well.

Legion will be a success, but it does not satisfy the same group of players that enjoy the IA campaigns. Let us hope that FFG remember that before losing our custom.

Agreed, the app is fun but I still prefer the actual campaigns. Don't get me wrong I want me some more app, but if it was a choice I'd choose physical content over app.

i also found the app to be way to easy.

Kind of like this.

There are people who get slapped and beaten and keep defending their abuser, telling themselves that it's not too bad. Not a very dignified way to behave...

And yes, this is hyperbole. :P

I absolutely agree with you! I also think there are rooms (plenty!) for other expansions and I hope they will see the light! I just think (my own opinion) that at the moment their efforts regarding IA are probably spent in developing the app. My point was that in the meantime we do have a lot of stuff to play around so it's not that tragic (at least for me). It's not like if the core box had been out for 4 years and we had received only one expansion. If I'm wrong and a new expansion comes out, I'll be running to my local store to pre-order it! :)

Me, I don't want that choice, I want both! ;) But if it means they have to temporary put on the ice one to produce the other, then I'm fine with that too. That's basically what I meant earlier.

we know 100% there will be more physical product. They still haven't officially released the cards World Champion Daniel Taylor helped design, and they said that the 2018 Worlds winner will also help design stuff for the future. I get that we nervous here but...

Don't mean to spread doom and gloom, just stating facts, but FFG told us LCG folks that last year as well... It doesn't confirm or rule out anything.

I've posted it in another thread and I will post it again here:

I spoke with Michal Ivan, the coverdesigner of the IA core set, RTH, BG, JR and HOTE and asked him:

Quote

Can we see Imperial Assault boxart for new sets of you in the near future?

I’m not sure. In the near future no, because I’m not currently working on any, but maybe later.

Does this mean no more expansions will be released?

There was a plan to do next expansion with my cover, but I think it’s not happening now. Maybe later, depends on FFG.

NEXT EXPANSION.

This and Todd and his FFG peeps said they were playing with the shiny new figures a few months back. This place is going to explode when the next weave is announced. It's coming folks. #hype
