Openers

By Boba Rick, in X-Wing

What are your openers?

"What's a nice girl like you doing flying Nymranda?"

I repeatedly drop a lime onto the floor, dusting it off before dropping it again anyway.

After about half an hour the girl will probably ask, "what are you doing?" to which I reply:

"sorry, I'm not very good at pick up limes"

"So... what are you flying? Oh, that? . . . Ok."

<Create hastily formed and probably horrible plan>

<Attempt to not get killboxed>

When I fly Rho, Blackout, Inquisitor I like to set the Rho in the centre directly facing a rock, this way and can double two hard to readjust for a joust and don't give my game away if I'm the first ship being set.

Blackout either baits the enemy by lining up to joust before absolutely legging it or goes for a flank.

Inquisitor sets up facing a neutral board edge and can bank into or out of combat before either running or moving to flank.

LEEROOOY JENKINS!!!!!!!

4 straight

5 straights, if I can. Usually I can. It really throws people off :D

For the garage, I use a Craftsman, for soup cans its a Kenmore and for bottled beverages I have a pewter Millennium Falcon.

I wait for my opponent to stop laughing at my choices... I fly HWKs & Scyks...

I usual spend round 4 wondering what happened to my opening move.

If I want to make a bang, Asajj with PTL, Engine Upgrade and Burnout SLAM can block aces on turn 1, and trigger a feedback array to ruin their whole game if they're not careful.

When I fly my Ghost (Ezra + Hera) + Dash build I make a point of overlapping debris with both on the first turn while declaring "Asteroids do not concern me, Admiral".

Whatever the opener is, it's something I regret in Round 2.

I typically use a knife or screwdriver to pry the halves of the ship apart until the glue joints pop open. Kinda wish I had a plastic spudger though.

I'm assuming you mean set up?

Right now I'm using Quickdraw, Vessery and a Sienar Specialist.

SS goes far left at board edge. Then Vessery and QD sit alongside about one base away. They all move forward, with the SS pushing ahead or behind a bit as they'll move into kiting with the TLT as soon as possible. The other two are free to turn in wen required.

Needs more work and testing against different lists and asteroid placements, but it seems pretty solid. The list can pump out 6 shots a round so it's important I get started right.

Heavy duty scissors. X-Wing's plastic blister packaging don't give way to anything less than the best set I've got.

These are hilarious. Not what I was looking for, but still great.

I won't figure it out until the third round of the tournament.

That was the very first thing I thought of when I saw the title of the thread too.

I've seen a grown man tear an A-Wing expansion open with his teeth.

Nope, I'm in the UK. It's good to know that players are just as desperate for access to their A-Wings* on the other side of the world, though!

*Or maybe it's Push the Limit. Sweet, sweet, Push the Limit.
