Suppression on Vehicles

By MikeNYHC, in Star Wars: Legion

I’ve read through the Rules Reference a couple times. (Can’t you tell I’m excited to start playing?)

I can’t find anything that’s ays vehicles can’t receive suppression tokens. I know they don’t have courage values so they can’t panic and don’t gain cover from suppression but do they still receive the tokens for who knows what purpose? It specifically says in the RRG that a “unit” that defends an attack that rolled at least one hit or crit receives a suppression token. It doesn’t specify that this only affects trooper units.

What do you think?

RRG pg 21

Some trooper units do not have a courage value. These units have a “–” on their unit card where a courage value would normally be.

» A trooper unit without a courage value cannot be assigned a suppression token. As such, that unit cannot become suppressed or panicked.

This is all specific to Troopers though...

"During an attack, if at any point the attack dice in an attack pool produce at least one hit (?) or critical (?) result and the defender is a trooper , the defender gains a suppression token."

p. 15 RRG, under "Attack". Emphasis mine.

So while rules for Suppression do only say "unit" I think they could only maybe get them via the Suppressive keyword or maybe some other effects. However, as you say, Vehicles have no courage value, so supression tokens cause no effect. They may just edit the RRG to make these unit references "trooper", or maybe they're leaving it open for other unit types?

...funny

I remember separatist droids running away lol *wink*

I wonder if it was intentional that they omitted "trooper" from the suppression section covering the same rule or an oversight? It would be nice if it just said vehicles cannot receive suppression tokens but who knows what happens in the future or if this is all just some inconsistencies in the rulebook.

Probably an oversight seeing as the only situation where this seems possible is on the AT-ST mortar. The other means of handing out suppression specify Trooper.

Probably the same reason they omitted "ranged" from the suppression section while it is in the LtP guide.

Sloppiness.
