Ackbar Triple Side Arc MC75

By grunnax93, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So have an idea for a kind of build that balanced in offensive and defensive capabilities. I settled on a pair of MC75 Armored Cruisers, I originally considered a pair of MC80 Assault Cruiser because they can get Engineering Teams and be able to take ECM and EWS being a very heavy tank, but would be limited in ability to Flak and engage multiple targets because of Ackbar. So I went with the MC75 because of access to Ordnance Pods and Gunnery Teams, also access to speed 3. Using GR-75 Combat Retrofits with Toryn Farr and General Draven to get a strong blue Flak bubble going while also using Comms Net to supply engineering tokens and what ever other tokens to the MC75 if they already have engineering tokens. Gunnery Teams and Ackbar will allow me to put out decent firepower out the broadsides at multiple targets, should be worth it due to its side arc being a very large angle it should not be too hard to keep two targets in arc, Ordnance Pods will still allow me to flak squadrons, while only being at close range with a single black, it gives me my third shooting action. Quad Laser Turrets also just further enhances the threat to squadrons considering I do not have any. Engineering Captain will allow me to only need Navigation or Concentrate Fire Commands and be able to force Engineering Commands only when its required.

I will also include my MC80 version as well down bellow.

Let me know what you guys think.

Instead of two Engineering Captain on the two MC75 i would use a Leia on one of the Transports.

Moving Draven on the MC75, adding Leia on one Transport and downgrading the two transport to medium will free up a lot of points.
This way you can add any officer to the second MC75 (maybe Strategic adviser) or even add another transporter. It would even give you the ability to add Shara, she can deal some extra damage to the squadrons.

I think you need Early Warning System instead of ECM in order to keep squadrons off your front arc. Otherwise you cannot Ackbar and Ordnance Pods.

Good call

It is worth noting that Ackbar also restricts QLTs for the round as well. If one of your ships has already activated and used Ackbar, it can only perform counter attacks from its left and right hull zones.

I have the Retrofits to extend the flak out to blue range, and Toryn will make it nearly as reliable as rolling blacks. I understand Leia, bit Engineering Captain allows me to Engineer on activation, cause if it gets shot, if i use Leia, i use an activation to change to engineering, it will get shot second time and may get destroyed before i get to activate the ship and resolving a repair.

support officer would probably be better than engineering captain.

Nah no thanks, one use.

I know that the blue range from the Combat Transports is better. But the extra cost of 6 points for each transport is really much. And Toryn does not work on the ship where she is onboard. So at least for this one the part with the reroll does not work ;).

And just wanted to say that the two engineering captain are really a lot of points that are more or less wasted and Leia could nearly do the same for less points.
There is a reason no one is really using these 6 point command changer (they are to expensive for their effect).

Yeah, maybe drop Bright Hope to a Medium Transport and leave the other one? As @Tokra said, Toryn doesn't affect her own ship.

Spending 12 points on a luxury is excessive. Plus you are missing out on two prime officer slots. There is just so much else you could do with those slots. Especially since if you plan perfectly, you wouldn't need the engineering captians at all. Leia can get you almost the same effect for 1/4 the cost, plus free the officer slot, and at least support officer costs 2/3.

If you just dropped them and took Intel officers instead they would be significantly more offensive, and it would only cost you 2 more points.

Sadly those wave one "switch a dial" officers are just too expensive for what they do, and there are way too many better officers competing for the slot.

What about using Defense liarson instead of engineering captain? Yeah you would need to spend a token to change the dial, it's 3 points and you have comms nets suppling tokens. Plus the dial change is to engineering or navigate which could be more useful.

This is what i have adjusted to for the time being. Going to try it out before making further changes.
