Just got my'thuck

By Hepitude, in Runewars Miniatures Game

So... this will be nothing new to most players, but I just got the core and I have to say... all of the units are so small! It makes me so much more excited for them. I think they're going to look really good once they're painted. :)

I've been thinking really hard about customization too. I think I'm going to remove the tail from the spined thresher. Then I think I'm going to use the tail mouth as the main mouth. I'd love to remove the claw tongues, but that might be too much carving.

I wish Ravos had fatter legs, and less neck fat... but that carving is too tough. I might cut his scythe down though...

If you have thoughts or advice I'd love to hear them as I'm still trying to make up my mind!

ALSO... I've been really skeptical of the "heat plastic in hot water to straighten it out" advice, but I tried it on Ravos' scythe and it worked like a dream. I'm really impressed by how easy it was. Wish I'd done it with my other units.

A CHALLENGER APPEARS!

We need more painted Uthuk on the forums and seeing your other units, I can't wait for what you will come up with.

Note to self: finish yours you lazy bum

Anyone else not really dig on the light blue demons in the stock photos? Seems like diablo red should be more appropriate.

Maybe I'm missing some lore there... Ravos, sure, he's a special maybe he has some kind of reason for being light blue... but the infantry?

The Uthuk have historically been Anglo-flesh colored. During BattleLore's time, we started seeing different colors. Ravos was interpreted as having a sickly yellow skin color, while the Viper Legion, Blood Sisters, and Malaana had the ash-gray skin tones. It seems that FFG decided that the gray was the look they liked best, but we really don't have any lore about it. My guess is that it was just to make them look more different from the Daqan and Latari.

I still haven't painted my Uthuk because I can't decide on a scheme for them. I've been going between a yellow-black-tan (yellow for armor plates on the the rippers and such, black for spikes, and tan for skin), and orange-white-umber (same order). I've also wanted to incorporate purple into a scheme, but I haven't been sure how. Maybe purple cloth for the orange scheme?

I'm going to go after this @Budgernaut ! Nice. thinking sickly jaudice yellow with some nurgle rot mixed in. I'm less concerned about the banner color, but that didn't look ash gray it looked steel blue. Did not like. The flesh rippers, however, are gorgeous

I liked the Uthuk better in Disk Wars when they had strong tans. They were well muscled, tanned. They looked VITAL, that the Ynfernael was really empowering them, even as it twisted their flesh into more dangerous forms, not that they had some sort of sickness.

It is funny for the uthuk to crow about how weak and soft everyone is when they look emaciated and sick.
