Trick Shot Turret Jank

By emeraldbeacon, in X-Wing Squad Lists

After watching the Las Vegas Regionals finals this weekend, I was struck by how effective a quartet of Jumpmasters could be with the right equipment. Trick Shot gives them extra attack dice quite often, given the sizes of their bases... but could I make them even scarier by increasing the number of obstacles on the board? Rigged Cargo Chute only costs one, and if I could sub out one Jump for something else that ultimately costs 3 less, I could possibly maintain its effectiveness. But what could I replace a PS3 Jump with?

Maybe another PS3 Jump, that can add some extra control aspects to the list?

  • Unkar Plutt (Quadjumper) - 22 total
    • Cikatro Vizago
    • Contraband Cybernetics
    • Pattern Analyzer
    • Spacetug Tractor Array
  • 3x Contracted Scout (Jumpmaster) - 26 each, 78 total
    • Trick Shot
    • Rigged Cargo Chute
  • Obstacles: 3 largest Asteroids

EDIT: I realized I could actually add some story to this list, too. Unkar Plutt, furious at the loss of his treasured YT-1300, sets out to reclaim it. Calling in a few favors from the now-aged pirate Cikatro Vizago, he pulls together a team, contracting a trio of scouts to track down the Millennium Falcon for him, while he "acquires" a replacement Quadjumper to pursue him on his own. And if he finds that treacherous scavenger girl in the process, all the better...

Now with 75% more story!

I’d say swap the Quadjumper for Torkil Mux packing the same perma-cloaked setup, swapping to Black Market Slicer Tools with Vizago.

He allows your Jumps to shoot that much sooner :)

I was at the LV regional and was like 4 jumpmasters? That sounds like it would get eaten up quick! Then i thought about oh trick shot and he gets to set his 4 at ps8. And yea it was a bit impressive to see. Catches you off guard at first.

I'm debating the courier droids for the JMs, too...

So, instead of Unkar Tractor Beam control, go with Torkil PS-kills... forgo the 4th (admittedly sub-par) attack in favor of dealing minor damage via stress-eating, as needed?

Pretty much, aye!

I would rather have the QJ myself over Torkil. The Tractors beams are super fun.

Agreed. The tractor token, give control, and makes it easier for 2 dice primaries to do damage. What do you think of this?

Jakku Gunrunner - Cikatro Visago, Cloaking Device, primed thrusters, seismic charges, spacetug tractor array. 22 points

He cloaks first turn, than uses Visago to switch out for scavenger crane. He can't attack as long as he's cloaked, but he can tractor, block, drop a bomb. And uses scavenger crane to potentially drop multiple bombs. he's super annoying. Especially since he's have 4 defense dice.

I dig it. However, if I were choosing, I'd rather have Pattern Analyzer than bombs, as you can Spacetug after a red that way - a r e a l l y powerful ability. In that way, the skeleton would be Vizago, Spacetug, PA, Cloaking Device, then you can flavour if possible.
