How does worlds work?

By FrogTrigger, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Im just curious, if I am ever going to crack this nut in my life I need to plan ahead. It appears this season the tickets were already sold? Doesn't matter there is no way I was making it this year anyway, but for next year how does it work? You watch until they announce it and apply for a ticket, then have a chance at going? Then apply for your games? Or is it based on the game you want to play?

Does Worlds usually fill up for IA?

I’ve only been part of this year and last year. Last year there were three waves of tickets I believe a couple days apart? But regardless, at a certain time tickets went on sale and you could just log in a be a part of the rush. It was announced ahead of time.

This time it was announced and right away you could apply for a ticket to the events you wanted to play in up until February 20th. Then there would be a random lottery of applicants to see who would get the option of buying a ticket. There will be a second wave of first come first serve ticket availability March 31 I believe. And it’s open only to people who already applied to the respective game. It will be populated by all the reserved seats that people passed on or first lotto winners that passed.

If that doesn’t sell out then at a certain point early April it becomes open to anyone until it’s sold out.

Ok thanks, so essentially your best odds are to get in right away and apply (assuming it stays the same for next year) then you get a few more chances along the way. Or just win a Nationals :D

So as of right now the only chance to go THIS year would be to get a ticket in April if one was available, assuming you didn't pre register. Does IA usually sell out?

You could still win a regional unless the last ones were this past weekend. Regional winners have a reserved seat if they want to buy it. Even after the first deadline. There’s a second deadline for reserved seats after the first one.

Edit: and I don’t think it’s sold out before. It didn’t last year I know that. Semi close. It could this year.

it would help as a regional winner if they SENT ME WHAT I NEED!!!! I put in a support ticket last thursday since that was when I realized I could actually go, so hopefully I hear back sooner, rather than later.

@MadFuhrer did you fill out a reserved seat application?

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScMoFpsYYZ0mwoVYJKK8-dxG8dyrZQXmRPe-hHpcD8NB_JTtw/viewform

they should send a confirmation March 29th with an invitation to purchase your seat then.

THANK YOU!

Now, I have filled that out, do I have a guarenteed bid on a ticket? Should I purchase flight tickets and a room at this point?

You should. But I can’t make any guarantees. I hounded them until they gave me an early response. But you should.

@MadFuhrer did you get an invite today? I heard some invites for reserved seats were sent out. Just curious.

Not today, but I did get a hold of their support and confirmed that the form was filled out and complete, so I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Just as an update, I received the, thanks for filling out the thing, buy your ticket before april 9th, email. So it looks like I am officially going to worlds for the first time :)

Were you able to purchase your ticket? I know they tweeted showclix was having some issues.

As an aside - odds on some form of IA announcement at Worlds (whenever it is...)?

I’d say 95%, if it doesn’t happen before.

I successfully purchased the ticket last night with no hassle. I did not attempt to buy it before that.

@FrogTrigger Do it and bring all your friends haha! This will be my first worlds appearance. I know I've mentioned it on another thread to you haha, but get "competitive." I absolutely love going to my local/regional events because the people are awesome (the game is too of course). I've yet to run into a cut-throat player (other than me when I play @Fightwookies ).

On a boarder note, we need more competitive players!!!!!! "Need" being more of a "it would be awesome" kind of a need haha.
