Hammerhead Swarm

By PT106, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So, the list I'm experimenting with lately:

Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 397/400

Commander: Mon Mothma

Assault Objective: Opening Salvo
Defense Objective: Capture the VIP
Navigation Objective: Salvage Run

Hammerhead Scout Corvette (41 points)
- Task Force Organa ( 1 points)
- Slaved Turrets ( 6 points)
= 48 total ship cost

= 48 total ship cost

= 48 total ship cost

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 points)
- Task Force Organa ( 1 points)
- External Racks ( 3 points)
= 40 total ship cost

- Task Force Organa ( 1 points)
- External Racks ( 3 points)
= 40 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
= 18 total ship cost

[ flagship ] MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63 points)
- Mon Mothma ( 30 points)
- Admonition ( 8 points)
- Lando Calrissian ( 4 points)
- Ordnance Experts ( 4 points)
- H9 Turbolasers ( 8 points)
- Assault Proton Torpedoes ( 5 points)
= 122 total ship cost

1 Tycho Celchu ( 16 points)
1 Shara Bey ( 17 points)
= 33 total squadron cost

Essentially Scouts for 48 points are a hidden gem as they can reliably get 3-4 damage with an accuracy per activation (4 red dice with 2 rerolls is a lot - 3 of these can easily mortally wound (or outright kill) an ISD in 2 rounds of shooting). Torpedoes provide Scouts with rerolls during initial engagement and are a good finishers once things switch to close combat, Admo is Admo (and is the best flotilla buster I'm aware of) and 7 activations is a lot even in a current meta.

The way I see it - the bulk of the list is 5 Hammerheads + 30 points Admiral (Mothma/Rieekan although Cracken is also possible for a different playstyle), which leaves 146 points for everything else that can vary (1-2 activations, bid, squadron cover)

Thoughts?

With the full Admonition build like that, HA is a no-brainer here imo.

The only reason I was hesitant to do that is that it puts the admiral into hyperspace as well. Although with getting out round 2 (or even round 3) this may work out after all.

Definitely could face some pressure to drop early for that reason. I almost never drop later than round 3 anyway, though, and I think if you're eating medium/close range shots before round 3 then something has already gone horribly wrong.

If you went to a Rieekan variant, his ability *may* come into play on round 2, but in that scenario they're probably trying to rush you through the HA nodes, in which case you wanted to drop on round 2 anyway.

Agreed. That leaves a blue objective to fine-tune (As I'm fairly certain about Opening Salvo - it's going to be a "never choose" objective and a blue one would see play most often)

With Mon Mothma I think solar corona is boring, but a very good choice to keep those evades in play.

With careful deployment I was able to go into the outside 1 foot of the table and produce a firing line coming straight out of the Corona at your opponent.

The only problem I have with it, is that I'd have to buy another box of hammerheads to try it out. Looks awesome.
