Doji Shigeru... In my play group, Guest of Honor is widely regarded as the best Dynasty character in the whole game. Shigeru, while not as strong as Guest of Honor (Can't participate in military and you can play cards), will be quite decent too. That's some quite oppressive tech there.
Good thing that Lion splash offers basically nothing to Crane because Guest of Honor, Shigeru and Ageless Crone would be so oppressive...

You are right, I just think other splashes offer more. As long as we don't have neutral attachment hate, I feel Crane really has to stick with Scorpion or Dragon. I may totally be wrong though and we might see that archetype come to be.
Finally a unicorn that works with the stronghold, save the action, move bowed into defense and send an attacker home.
Seems a little understated but I liked.
It's an OK card, but Unicorn needs far too many of these types of cards right from the beginning to fix things.
Its a good start, but it's only a start, and IMO the devs lost a goodwill w/ Unicorn players at the very least and will have to do much, much more to get it back

And this guest + shigeru + crone and lion splash will certainly be strong
Negate/tax/cancel events, could be strong in the scorpion meta and now with phoenix spell decks, the question is how good it will be facing dragon and attachment-focused decks.

I was going to say that the Unicorn card doesn’t seem that good against other clans (apart from Phoenix) considering that Unicorn characters often have impressive Glory stats themselves.
But having re-read the card I wonder if there is some mileage in using Nergüi to send one of your own characters home ready to fight in another conflict, e.g. if you’ve over-committed (or rather, your opponent doesn’t commit anything to defence) and you currently have over-kill on the Province break?
After all, moving out of a conflict has always been the bigger problem for Unicorn...It’s just that annoying Military conflict restriction again.

a 3/3 or 3/2 instead of 2/2 would have been perfect.

Excellent point. Overcommitt with Nergui. When they defend with a chud, send your best guy home. When they decently commit, send one of their guys home. When the over-commit, send your best guy home.

Well Guardian Kami means I'm going to have to start considering buying this expansion. Need to think about what it would replace in my deck.
Wish Shigeru were a Crab card. That hand destruction is really nice.
I think Nergui could have gotten away with having her action work in any conflict type for the same cost, but for a Unicorn card she isn't too bad.

Not quite... only resolves the ring during a battle, does not claim the ring or end the battle. Still gives people a real pause on what ring to attack with. Could be devastating for an opponent with a DoP... but expensive.
Loving the art direction of this game...Congrats to FFG and the artists. I also like the fact they have provided interesting single cards for the other clans. Makes the packs less of an overbalance towards one clan. Nice work...

I really like the art direction of L5r, the cards really let the world of Rokugan feel vibrant and alive. I only fear that the tools that phoenix are getting will be opressive for most of the other clans.
I love how the crane is being sold as "anti-phoenix" when literally everything about it screams "die scorpion, die!"
Guardian Kami + Tadakatsu + Phoenix splash could make for some bonkers battles.
Alternatively, dragon getting keeper of earth, guardian kami + Tadatakstu + Crab splash could also get pretty annoying for our opponents too, between RoB/NR + Kitsuki Yaruma, Kitsuki Investigator, Policy Debate, and earth ring abuse, we could build a semi decent hand control engine (even better than we already could), use our existing fate control engine (minus the emo stone, of course), stuff like levy or watch commander to do an honor/fate crunch, indomitable will + centipede tattoo + the mountain does not fall + Agasha Sumiko + mantra of water + niten master becomes some serious I'm in every battle stuff.
I think this potential build warrants some testing in casual play so we can see if it's worth going after at, say, worlds or other role choice opportunities.

The artwork is top notch and something I really love about the game. The game is good, but pretty to play and collect as well. Helps sell it to new players, too.
