Thresher reroll

By Jukey, in Runewars Rules Questions

The thresher gets a reroll if the unit they attack has a panic token. So if a thresher is attacking a unit which is on a flank and has a panic token, does it still get a reroll?

Good question. I would say that they still receive the reroll.

RR 41.1 When the flanked unit performs an attack against the flanking unit, the flanked unit does not receive any rerolls for having additional ranks .

That last part does not exclude other rerolls.

That's the way we played it. I couldn't find anything in the rrg that says you cannot reroll, which would be the necessary absolute.

How are you guys doing the Thresher's panic ability? The wording says "After your activation..." We have been playing this in my group as immediately after the Thresher activates. However, this means the thresher almost always gets a re-roll due to panic, and usually gets at least a severity 2 panic test. This feels pretty broken.

I'm inclined to believe it actually means after his activation is over, giving the opponent the opponent a chance to rally off the panic before the thresher's next swing. It also allows the thresher to sometimes make an aggressive move and then hand out a lot of panic, so it's not a total loss for the Uthuk player.

Anyone reading this or playing this differently?

We play it as once activation is complete. So it would be post-attack to us.

And they still nearly always get a reroll and a severity two test. Mainly because a lot of times the threshers don’t quit have a small enough gap to make the 3 speed charge connect. So they stop, dole out panic, and the. Charge early the next turn

On the rules side: We see it as the difference between “activation” as a series of events laid out in rule 5 and starting activation (flipped dial or choosing to activate depending on your reading of RRG)
