Canadian nationals 2018 stream!

By Panzerninja, in Star Wars: Armada

And that's game. Top of Turn 3 Nym shows up, knocks the Star Cruiser to 3 hull. Mack concedes. Dodonna (Yik) moves on to fight Raddus.

I heard Norm's list is an ISD of some flavor, a Quasar, and a buttload of squadrons. Maybe flotilla?

Gonna be back for the final, or asleep so that I can go to work tonight without being dead.

They've started up the final! Very interesting Raddus list against the Fishy Farm!

So the 8x YT2400 are back in town :P

Congrats to @Roquax! I see someone has embraced the power of Raddus :D

That was a very unconventional Raddus fleet. It takes some serious stones to start the game with just a CR90 and GR75 on the table for your ships. Eight angry frisbees certainly help, but only two starting ships takes some guts.

Roquax has testicles the size of cantaloupes.

Dude should see a doctor about that.

Was awesome to see rebel fleets in the final. 2 isd's is the meta here. One bt avenger the other devastator.

Raddus is the real deal.

Yeah the threat range on Raddus is massive. Way bigger than you expect!

Buggrit. Just got home from work. Does anyone know if the videos will be reposted?

The links on their website appear to be mixed up, but I was able to find it.

yes, mixed up. The last link of the three is Armada, at least it was in the morning.

Raddus drops are extremely flexible. This was my drop against a fleet with 6 TRCR90As. My table edge is on the left side of the photo.

Oh, come on....you could have dropped the HH in there too with Profundity. He left you WAY too much space...lol

Agreed. If you're playing Imperials you have to have a plan to deal with a Raddus drop.

My plan will not change. It will be the same plan I have every game. Which is to say no plan at all. Fly by the seat of my pants and hope for the best!!!

I think I like the global effect Raddus is having on the game, based on my early impressions :

1) first thing is he really hammers the flotilla race -

first and lasting has much much less weight when the MC-75 will drop in your back arc anyhow. And the 100 points invested in activation spam could have helped you fighting that

2) He's hurting more front-arc shooters.

the worst thing to have when facing a Raddus drop is a single massive point-sink ISD, something that has proved being very strong in the pre-Raddus meta. This ship will never shoot the big Raddus drop with its front arc.

But big side-arc shooters are not completely hammered by Raddus. As long as you "occupy" their front arc to prevent Raddus from dropping right there, they could get opportunities to fight with their side arc in later rounds. This might help MC80s and assault frigates.

So, more hurt on the 1 big + 4-5 flotillas that were legitimately hated.

And yes, because he helps against the activation race, he also helps rogue squadrons as a solution if you want to go low. All good, no ?

Because ISDs and flotillas are certainly still very good, my early impression of Raddus is that he might do a bunch of beneficial things to the meta, by:

- broadening the range of playable ships and squads

- harming the flotilla / activation race

- diversifying the combat ship options

I think Raddus is winning because minds have not adjusted (besides being super-good), but my hope is that he will help build a very broad and healthy meta.

I've seen the activation issue get worse via Raddus.

For example, fleets that have 7-8 activations so that they still have first/last even when the Raddus ship is off the table.

And the response to this of having 6-7 activations as a non-Raddus fleet to prevent it.

But each meta to its own. We all live in strange little bubbles of Armada with their local peccadillos. :)
