I am looking for the best aftermarket ruler set that is accurate and good looking. What sent do you have and can you take a picture of that set next to the starter ruler for comparison. I am looking for Squadron set and a firing Range set. Please Help
Best Aftermarket Ruler Set?
I've enjoyed Litko's acrylic range rulers.
Not sure if it's legal to post direct links to product. But google Litko Armada and you should be good.
I haven't picked up a set myself yet, though I should. What has kept me from doing so thus far is just the number of rulers needed. And the fact that at one point I stumbled across a set for squadron movements that were concave so you could set it up against the squad, and then place it on the other end. That seemed perfectly useful, and I really want to get a set, but then I need another set of distance rulers as well =P. And on top of all of that, I still need to finally pick up a laser line because it's much more useful in Armada than X Wing.
Recreator Studios has you covered.

They're the transparent blue-green ones (but you can pick your own color). I would've gone full-sized but I already had the store champ rulers so it wasn't necessary. I've checked them against the cardboard range ruler and they're correct.
I have a Litko set in the green flavor that I really like.
Gotta say though, those recreator ones look very nice.
I bought a set of Litko rulers, got a set of regional rulers so I gave the litko set to a friend in the area, used those regionals for about a month then decided I wanted to use the Litko's again so I bought another set. I recommend them.
Edit: Honestly, the answer is "either" when it comes to the Litko or Recreator Studios ones @Snipafist recommended. both are fine, look at the sites and see which you like more. I believe amazon has the blue Litko ones as a prime option if that matters to you.

Do the recreator studios rulers still have the graphics that are on Yours? The ones on the website aren't the same....

I love those ones with the laser shot graphics. I'd order a set of them if they had those graphics still....
I'll email them and check....
Edited by moodswing5537I’ve got th Litko rulers. They’re nice. But I made the mistake of ordering both sets in the same color. That’s very confusing since range and distance look very similar.
I like the litko it's what I bought after my original dissapeared since my move last year
During the Canadian nationals stream, one player had a range 1 ruler with like a little handle on it, that seemed super useful. Anybody got a lead on those?
Cog'o'two in the UK has great stuff too
I have Recreator rulers as well. All of them match the core set.
I've got the Recreator Studios rulers. In my opinion they're on the thin side - maybe not the best acrylic - so all of mine have developed a slight curve. I consider it an annoyance but not a deal breaker as there's not a lot of better options.

Can I see your set next to the standard ruler to see how accurate it is please?

They look the best but how accurate are they? Can I see please?

I will not be able to get a good enough picture to assure you that they are perfectly matched up.
They do match up and never had an issue with them. More importantly, never had an opponent have an issue with them.

Read that thread, especially the first post if you're looking for an exact measurement comparison. Keep in mind the sample size of that comparison and that products are going to vary due to manufacturing tolerances.
Keep in mind if there is an issue during gameplay you or your opponent can request a single set of tools be used between both players.

Thank You.
I'll second the recreator studios set. I had Litko, but they were badly off from the cardboard standard. Recreator is spot on and great quality.
Eleven Tree Designs in the UK have some nice ones - accuracy is good I understand.

They were spot on accuracy-wise, that was definitely not my issue.
I've got some X-Wing stuff made by Applied Perspective and when I compare the quality of those rulers against the Recreator Studios rules I can see and feel a difference. The ones by AP are thicker, feel sturdier, don't bow.
I take it you don't have any of the OP rulers but the best comparison would be the opaque green rulers with white markings versus the smoky black translucent rulers with green and red markings. The green ones feel thinner, more flimsy.
To reiterate my first point, however, the RS rulers are perfectly functional tools. As far as I know, there are no other domestic (USA) manufacturers you can even pick from.

Don't worry too much about how accurate the rulers you use are. FFG certainly don't pay much attention to that when they're making tournament prizes ![]()
As far as UK suppliers go I'll echo @Ken-Obi, Cog'o'Two are great quality and a good match for the lengths of the official rulers. Not got any photos to hand of mine though I'm afraid.
All the 3rd party ones I've seen are all pretty accurate. the FFG ones are garbage. I have litko ones, I got range and distance in different colors, been using them for a long time, they still look brand new, and I really like them. but I've seen other 3rd party ones (not sure from where) that are just as good. I honestly think everyone needs a set of acrylic 3rd party range/distance tools. I think one of the FFG ones is ok. that green an white one I think is right, and the (i think regionals last year?) one that's double sided and dark translucent is pretty close, but it's not perfect. my litko ones are dead nuts on with the cardboard one right when it was new. (my cardboard one has deteriorated from bouncing around in the box so the litko ones are better than the cardboard at this point)
