So when do we get movement tool prizes

By dominosfleet, in Star Wars: Armada

I'll start by saying that I love that FFG is giving out measuring tools as prizes, i think it's awesome. My question, when do you think they start giving out variants of the movement tool? I FINALLY caved and bought 2 extra movement tools so i can have a 2 and a 3, I was going to make a 1 out of them but decided to cave a little more and buy the third for the "perfect" set of 4.

So ya, you guys can wishlist as much as you want about which new ship you want to come out, I want a 1-4 set of movement tools to either be released or given out as prizes at a competition. HEAR ME FFG ;)

A new injection mould for the movement tool will probably cost a thousand or so. Big steel multi locking thing with cold water channels running through it.

Compared to laser cutting a few tokens or range rulers it isn't the sort of thing you want to do for a production run of maybe 200 units world wide.

Now changing the colour of the plastic in the current mould could be an option for some fancy prizes.

effectively there are three parts to the tool. the arrow head, the middle brackets and the 0 bracket which has a flat end(because it doesn't connect to anything).

I'm confident that they only have 1 mold for that middle bracket that they just print 3 of for the kits. All I'm asking is, effectively, for a kit that has 4 heads, 6 middles and 4 of the ends. As for the prizes different colors would be PERFECT ;) . Based on how finecast went I'd bet that using a different material(similar to the acrylics) wouldn't be doable.

I'd be all for an imperial black and silver, and a rebel red and white set of the current movement tools.

I own all 4 and I've already had to replace my 2, as it's frequently used and wore out. Zero regrets. You made a good call.

I would just love a movement tool where the numbers would quit falling out...

minor rant: the pointy arrow regularly gets in the way of tight maneuvers. Wish it had been flat haha.

I'm not kidding though - I superglued in my number discs and they've been snug in there ever since!

I filled mine with putty, smoothed it out, painted the whole tool black (both sides since it increased clickiness) and then wrote on it in Aubresh.

When they can make them fine and them not move like jelly after few games

Yeah most things wont go too far after use.

My number have all fallen out. I've been told by opponents that my Victory Star Destroyers cannot move speed 4, but since I've got no numbers in there I tell them to prove to me that I'm not actually going speed 2. Nobody has been able to figure out why my Speed 2 ships are so fast.

The tick count nubs on mine have been worn down to nothing, so I just have to guess at the right angle. My opponents are confused when my Vic gets behind them with a 180. Sometimes they call a judge, but once I've politely explained to them that my maneuver tool is an official FFG product all resistance falls away.

I've ran into Wonky tool dudes at tourneys. Anytime I question a move, I offer them to use my properly clicking tools. If they protest, I say fine, I want to use yours to move my ISD next turn....they usually agree to use mine at that....lol.

this. imo the "jelliness" of the tool makes it quite easy to fudge the movement of the ship into the "perfect" spot, whether intentional or not. Needs to be more rigid.

If thing have a little play:

Turn the tool over (or take it apart).

Spray a thick layer of spray paint or clear varnish into the joint... do it the way you’d never paint a miniature: up close and thick.

let dry.

boom.

Nice and rigid once again.

Its getting old and beat up and needs another coating, but I did it for real.

NOTES IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO THIS YOURSELF:

1)

Prime the heck out of it. Use a Filler Primer. FILL. That's what keeps it clicky.

2)

Seal the heck out of it afterwards. See 1) for reasoning.

3)

Profit. Maybe. I Mean, if you're doing it for cash for someone else I guess...

Thanks for the advice. The problem is when you do your best to be precise but your opponent doesn't, haha.

I might do this to reinforce my own tool though :)

All you can ever do is be responsible for your own integrity.

always, in the first and only instance, be personally accountable for your own integrity.

then, and only then, do you maintain the status, integrity, and indeed right to call your opponrnt a cheating f***er when they don’t... ?

i have slso drubk half a bottle of white whiskey in 20 minutes and my advice should be taken in that light ??
