Trusted Ally

By Darth evil, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

I played IG88 last night for like only the 2nd time, and i found his rolls where terrible, i think i rolled a singe damage on a red die 3 times in a row, so i got to thinking that i could use a reroll somewhere and i spotted trusted ally.

How are peoples experiences with this card?

I'm not sure IG-88 lists can really afford the point it requires. It'd give c-3p0 I guess a little more utility I suppose, but I mean what are you cutting?

3 single damage red rolls is extremely unlucky. if you really need the re-roll that bad I'd look at maybe the targeting network command card for that.

Did you take Focused on the Kill?

That gives you a free green die

yeah i had FOTK, i had trouble killing a 12hp Kayn Somos with 2 attacks and assasinate

The problem w/ Targeting Network is that it is a Skirmish Attachment... just like Focused on the Kill. And you can only have one.

I like it but not for Iggy lists. You have to adjust your play so that the droid(s) with Trusted Ally are always nearby IG-88. Since you want Iggy to dive deep into the board and get off at least one attack in Round 1 and try to double-attack in Round 2, C-3PO is not the best choice for Trusted Ally. I haven't found a good Iggy list that has an extra Droid that can carry Trusted Ally. I guess making room for 0-0-0 would be the best option. Putting Trusted Ally on HKs or Sentry Droids would also work.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the command card targetting network, which lets you reroll a die from a droid or vehicle, and you can redraw it by spending a surge.

yeah, I think you just had some bad luck and Kayn with 12 health, Zillo and some decent rolls can block enough. Red die average is around 2.5, so 2R1G should avg. 6dmg and a surge. Average Black die roll is 2 blocks. 15-4+11

LOL, I'm dumb.

Targeting Network & Mitigate are absolutely important for Iggy lists.

It's worth noting that if the roll was RRG, then there is actually a ~30% chance of rolling a single damage on at least one die of a 2-red-dice roll. The chances of it happening 3 times in a row are about 2.8%--which sounds low, but you only need to play 35 games with IG88 to have a statistical likelihood it will happen once.

Edit: and, if we include the green die, then the chances of rolling a single damage (or the green's single surge) on at least one die out of three is roughly 42%--and 3 times in a row increases to 7.5%, or once in 13 games.

This event may not be as unlikely as people are assuming, is all I'm saying. --And so Targeting Network and Mitigate become of even greater importance, yes. ; )

Correcting math error. ; )

in hindsight i've been playing Vader since HOTE released an i am so used to rolling RRY with a reroll that i am used to seeing big damage. i just thought that IGGY would be similar

Yeah Kayn Somos was a beast in that game ! :P You won in the end, but it could have gone both ways as I had unlucky rolls as well. Yup, almost won with Kayn ;)

What was your Kayn build? Kayn + Advanced Comms, eSentries x2?

It was Kayn + advanced comms, capt. Terro, rStorm, rStorm, Dewback and rRiot. Didn't happen but I can attack like 5 times with Terro in the same round, can surprise a lot of people

Temp alliance Farm Luke and get rerolls for anyone within 3 spaces? #unorthadox

Were you able to use some of the new Trooper cards with your rStormies? If so, how did they do in attacks?

I used the E Sentry droids as a carrier for trusted ally for Ig88, in a few practice games recenly. I rolled fairly well so it wasn't massive, but helped. problem is there are lots of good 1 point cards for scum so it's hard to justify over devious for example. games are on YouTube if u fancy a watch, first game went well, second not so much
