First Imperial Lists

By Zitchdog, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi,

im new to x wing and have just started list building, like the idea of the following 2 lists with the main aim of the lambda being a trap/target magnet allowing the rest of the list to clean up.

Any thoughts would be apprecitated.

Both are very similar basically swapping the Firespray for a defender as I like the hitting power of the tie/d but love the firespray.

List 1

Firespray-31: · Krassis Trelix

Assault Missiles
Engine Upgrade
Tail Gunner

TIE Fighter: · "Mauler Mithel"

Expertise
Twin Ion Engine Mk. II

Lambda-Class Shuttle: Omicron Group Pilot

Ion Cannon
Sensor Jammer
Rebel Captive

-- TOTAL ------- 100/100p. --

List 2

Lambda-Class Shuttle: Omicron Group Pilot

Ion Cannon
Sensor Jammer
Rebel Captive

TIE Defender: · Rexler Brath
Expertise
Heavy Laser Cannon
TIE/D

TIE Fighter: · "Mauler Mithel"
Expertise
-- TOTAL ------- 100/100p. --

In both cases, Not the Lambda are the carrot that I'd go chasing for two reasons: 1) they are worth more points and 2) they represent the biggest threat in your lists. I'm going to try and knock those guys out while my ships are at full health, not when I can get behind the Lambda and take it out more easily.

Tie Defenders are pricey to begin with, and adding Expertise & HLC is paying too much for just one gun. Drop down your Heavy Laser Cannon to an Ion Cannon, Flechette Cannon or Tractor Beam so you can actually use the TIE/D title.

" Once per round, after you perform an attack with a secondary weapon that costs 3 or fewer squad points , you may perform a primary weapon attack."

I love that particular title, especially when paired with another Defender with the /D title and a different cannon: Shoot with the T. Beam, reduce their agility & move them into a better spot (remember, you don't have to move them, it is optional) then fire at them with your primary. Then have your other Defender hit them with an Ion or Flechette Cannon to put some salt in the wound.

Expertise is a great card, but try it on Vessery instead. If you decide to fly 2 Defenders, on the 2nd one, Ryad is the flavor of choice for most folks especially with Push the Limit. Also, don't ignore the /x7 title. It is a great card indeed!

The reason you see Lambdas on the tables right now is due to Emperor Palpatine. He's got a powerful ability and it is a great chariot for him: it is Cheap and has decent health.

Imperials have great ships. Not knowing what you have in your collection, it's hard to give more specific advice as to what to pair with your Lambda.

Recommended ships to buy/try: TIE/sf, & TIE Advanced Prototype. Strikers are awesomely maneuverable if you're into that. TIE Aggressors are under appreciated in my opinion (they're the only small base Imp with a turret). And lastly the classic TIE Fighter and TIE/fo have some good pilot abilities. You can do well with them if you fly well (avoid rocks, bombs & arcs). The TIE/fo expansion pack is worth it for Omega Leader. Even a naked TIE or /fo are good as a filler.

Totally forgot the "Gunboat" (Alpha-class Star Wing)! Great ship. Lots of fun.

Your second list does look better. But without Palp, no one is gonna shoot at the shuttle. I'd either use Palp, or trade it.

Now, Mauler loves VI - in order to get in Range 1, he wants high PS. So, give him VI, and as Force mentioned, try Vessery with TIE/D, Expertise, Tractor Beam - that guy is a BEAST.

That leaves you 42 points. Enough room for Ryad as a second defender (she's better as X7 with PTL), or Quickdraw, or loads of others!

Thanks for the comments, it really helps, will give palp a go. And yea force, I meant to have the ion cannon in the list specifically for the tie/d card, I must have got muddled up and put the hlc down by mistake. Thanks for your advice. All taken on board.
