Preferable the Naboo Starfighters and maybe a Venator! But seriously, x-wing releases have more news then the Armada lately! Is this game dying // dead?

I was wondering when this obligatory post new wave release Armada is dead post was going to be made.

If you are curious, Armada tends to have a 60 day gap between a wave is released and a new wave is announced. We are currently somewhere in the 30 day mark.

X-Wing is FFG’s cash cow, and they are force feeding it. While Armada has 1.5 waves per year, X-Wing has closer to 3 waves per year. So double the news, double the ships.

No Armada is not dead, nor is it even close. I dont recall it perfectly but last year i believe it was still the 4th or 5th best selling miniatures game on the market. But this game has stayed well balanced and has minimal power creep because they are taking their time with it. New ships are coming, Worry Not

For people that care here is a list of wave announced days and when they became available to most of the public. The last two March announced dates did correspond with GAMA but with so many new products it is hard to say if Armada will get pushed back to April.

OP, the key thing to keep in mind is that X-Wing always gets special treatment from FFG, because it's their big runaway success. More players, more revenue, therefore more expansions. Armada is still doing very well in the overall tabletop market, and FFG is definitely still keeping it going.

This year is a bit different, because it's true that we're around the point where FFG traditionally teases a new wave, but it's also right on the eve of the launch of Star Wars Legion. FFG is throwing a lot of marketing behind this launch (more than I think I've ever seen for an FFG game), and they don't want to do anything to interrupt the hype by distracting people with announcements for other game lines. It's fine to feel a little jealous as Legion gets multiple articles per week for month after month, but just give that game the rest of March and maybe April too, and then we'll be back in business.

If it makes you feel better, FFG got asked about Armada, specifically their "something big is coming" hint last fall. If it wasn't clear that that didn't refer to Wave 7, they got coy about it and implied that there's still something special coming soon for Armada. We're all assuming that means an epic-scale ship like the Executor. That might be the next wave to look forward to, or it might be something outside of wave releases, like the Corellian Conflict was.

Don't think too much about armada news and release schedule. Once you start down that very dark and twisted path, forever it will dominate your destiny.

I think we will get an announcement this month.

I'm all for more Muppet related gifs.

That is why x wing is so unbalanced while Armada is a much more playable game. I dont mind slower pace.

As Dras said, I think you mean 2 variants of 1 ship, but the Empire now is ahead 2 variants of a squadron compared to the Rebels

I mean, its unfortunate to do - but you really have to define "Ship" there...

Do you mean Expansion?

Because if you mean ship expansion, then the Imperials are only 1 Behind (from the Core Set days)

Do you mean actual plastic models?

Then they are 2 behind, because the Chimaera and ISD share a model...

It makes a difference, basically...


To me, the Imperials are one "ship" behind, but one Squadron "Ahead".

... THey also still hold the Monopoly on one type of Upgrade. Which is unfair and ****.

Imps can complain about parity when I can put a Targeting Scrambler in my Rebel Fleet, and not a moment beforehand.
