Lists with Only 1 Alpha Class Star Wing

I only own one Alpha Class Star Wing, and I want to play it more in casual games. Most of the lists I've seen fly multiple Star Wings together, so I'm wondering about people's thoughts on lists with just one. Here's a 97-point list I'm currently flying:

Tie Bomber - Gamma Squad (Tie Shuttle, Fleet Officer, Sys Officer, Engine Upgrade)

Tie Advanced - Inquisitor (Tie/VI, PTL, Proton Rockets)

Alpha Class Star Wing (Vet Instincts, Advanced Slam, OS-1 Loadout, Cluster Missiles, Plasma Torpedos)

Lots of lists like to run double ace and either Nu or deadeye Rho Gunboat. PTL Vynder is very nasty against all lower PS ships and with slam, an excellent blocker against high PS ships.

Another good option is take the Quickdraw and two silencer list and sub in a gunboat:

Agreed, double ace and an Alpha can be great! I've seen Vader/QD/Alpha, Vader/Inky/Alpha, QD/Inky/Alpha, all used to great effect. Largely, this is because an alpha, whether with ordnance (title options) or cannons, is a wonderfully useful little piece that cannot safely be ignored.

My favorite builds include the above PTL Vynder or a Rho with the same build, a Nu with Harpoons and LRS, or any pilot with XG-1, Linked Battery, Tractor or Jamming Beam, Guidance Chips, and Harpoons (they fire harpoons one turn, not spending the lock, reload next turn and fire the cannon, then can fire Harpoon again next turn)

I can certainly see the utility of these lists, but I don't have Harpoons.

I did just get the Tie Bomber Expansion and flew this tonight: Captain Jonus (Sys. Officer, Fleet Officer, Lightweight Frame, and Tie Shuttle); The Inquisitor (PTL, Proton Rockets, Munitions Failsafe, Tie/v1); and Major Vynder (Vet. Instincts, Plasma Torp., Cluster Missiles, Advanced Slam, Os-1 Arsenal Loadout)

I'm playing with Quickdraw and Countess Ryad. Is there anything preventing me from using a Nu with Autoblaster Cannon and Harpoon with the Assault Configuration? The single Missile/Torpedo icons aren't affected, so why not have a short-range punch along with long-range? The cost is 28! I just have to be careful about slamming around.

Nav is interchangeable but i like it to avoid bumps, bombs, arcs, and arc dodge. Im a firm believer of ex mun. On Vynder. Get 2 shots off before you have to turn around and reload. Taking adapt +1 on rac or another ept might be better so you can kylo-harpoon-rac crit and get off kylo and Harpoons in 1 rd

I have done well with this list other than a tourney i went 0-2. Went against a rage chewy so nullified alot of the basis of the list. Chewy had 2 wookie commando gunships with him that were doing work. I was misplaying my target priority as well.

Going to take it to a tourney again bc i know its better then 0-2. I had a bye rd and then had to leave before the 4th rd so didnt get any more games in

Lt. Karsabi with Wired, Xg-1 Title, Heavy Laser Cannon and Linked Battery is a good 35 point ship.

Slam and then take a stress to remove the weapons disabled token. Wired gives you a reroll on your attack and defence focuses and Linked battery allows you to reroll one attack die.

You can use it with the VI Quickdraw and VI Inquisitor or another good ship.

So not a lot of utility in the Tie Bomber running support? I was really trying to play with that synergy.

It seems most everyone flies the Star Wing with harpoons. I don't have harpoons. Do I need to get them?

What about flying Jonus and giving two re-rolls on Vynder's secondary weapon attacks? Plus with Tie Shuttle, he can also have Systems Officer to give TLs. I don't have Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (yet!).

I haven't gotten this to a table yet but I like the idea of Vynder with a couple of crit-dealing wingmates to proc his harpoon missiles. All at 9.

Only compromising on PTL for Vynder and Vader's engine. But there just aren't enough points. Still could be potent though.

For casual games, you can proxy cards. Just print your list out from an online squad builder. This helps know if you actually want an upgrade before spending money to get it. Harpoons are just the best missile so everyone includes them by default. Can easily be substituted for Concussion missiles or Proton Torpedoes. MK.II makes flying the shuttle a lot easier. Vynder will be slamming, so a shuttle with system officer will have a really tough time keeping up.

My primary partner and I agreed early on we wouldn't proxy cards. Maybe we should re-evaluate!

The way I've been flying it, Vynder and Jonus fly in formation, and Vynder gets one long range attack and then (hopefully) one short range attack before slamming away. Meanwhile, the Inquisitor comes in for a flank attack.
