the dock is where it is harboured when out of action.

My point was that the various militaries had multiple TOEs in effect for the same unit type (infantry division, armored division, etc.) at the same time. The U.S. had two active TOEs for armored divisions. Even though the Army's infantry division TOE was standardized, the United States military also had the USMC division. Navies are always far more confusing and non-standardized.
Is this different from your response?
The bigger a force (in this case the storm trooper cadre ) the easier logistics become when they have a standard (or at least mainly similar) TOE. You say the US had 2 active TOEs for ARMD Divs ... how different were they? (ie 80% the same?) was the base equipment (the tank) different?
I love the dedication to this topic, however lets take the heat out of it. This is for a fantasy universe, lets remember that first and foremost.
Star Destroyers ARE designed to be able to subdue a system, and I am sure on several occasions they have deployed troops and equipment to planets to reinforce their mantra.

Edited by GeressenI'd like to think it's going to work like it did in shots of the Clone Wars cartoon. There was clearly armed troop ships to move them. Maybe not all at once, but you'd definitely shuttle them.
It's not like transporters exist in this universe.
